I'm attempting to sell my old bass guitar on Ebay. If I sell it, I'll be faced with the question of how to ship it to the successful bidder. Any tips would be appreciated.

UPS, FedEx, or U.S. Post Office?

What to ship it in? Unfortunately, I threw away the box that my Stingray 5 came in.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

most guitar stores are cool enough to hand over a shipping box.

try GC, they get so much stuff everyday that they should have boxes coming out their arses.

I did the bike-box route. They were more than happy to get rid of a bike box. I put the hardcase on the inside and then stuffed the box full of crumpled newspaper (fortunately, not many people read the local college paper during the summer when I shipped a bass!). It was quite solid. It was part of a trade; I shipped UPS, the other guy shipped Fedex, neither of us had an issue with shipping.

Ernie HATED that stuff. I don't blame him, one big gust of wind and *poof*, such a mess...

Heh.....ask Travis(ebmuscmanlvr83) about our last trade & my pack job. :D
I generally use FedEx only because it's a lot closer to me than UPS.

When I was still living with my parents, my dad always griped about those peanuts. Even the smallest box that would arrive....if he saw peanuts when he cracked the tape, he'd go outside & open the box over the garbage can. :D

The Postal Service has worked out good too.
The Priority Service gets delivered in 2 or 3 days.
They fly most of those shipments.

No matter what service you use, ALWAYS ship insured !

If one of your retailers won't give you a box, just go round back and have a look in their dumpster(s) :D

Also a good tip on getting free roses. About 5pm or whenever the flower shops close, they toss the day's non-sold flowers.

Once, just being funny, I shipped Armybass a bass and I stuffed billions of those peanuts in the box. He hates the peanuts, too.

Well, this was back when he was still active duty and he opened the box at work and he was wearing his uniform...and it was cold and dry.

He had those things stuck to him for weeks.
