How's the traffic from LA to SLO?

I'm getting into LAX around 10:15 or so on Friday - I was going to have lunch with a colleague in LaLaLand and then head up to SLO. Is there anything I need to be on the lookout for - besides the normal road rage and white bronco pursuits?

Also, if anyone wants to take a ride up with me, you're more than welcome...
