Ditto everything Beej says about speakers. V30s are strong in mids, good for playing out, can sound harsh by themselves(at home). Greenbacks are smoother-sounding and you get speaker breakup at lower volumes(lower power speaker), my fav. I have best of both worlds, 2x12 with V30 and Greenback. G12T75s like in the Marshall 1960A 4x12 are more mid-scooped, so actually sound pretty good by themselves, but need a mid boost/EQ for a band mix. Whichever speaker/amp you get, a decent EQ pedal is a cheap and very-overlooked method to get the exact sound you're going for.

Yea, it has tons of features, but thats not a bad thing. There is one guy you can find on the video section of Fractal Audio site, that did a INSANE demo of what its capable of in every possible style covering tunes from 50s all the way to present. For what it costs, it is actually more cost effective than if you were to get a 3 channel tube amp and bunch of other effects...I was just really impressed by this thing, but havent tried it. I'm all for moving forward with technology, as long as its used for good things...not excess and pointlesness (another topic of materialistic humans living in excess).

Are you talking about Ketil Strand, from the Revolution of Rock vids? Killer player, I watch it just for entertainment, excellent demo of the axefx capability. Although I don't have his chops or play half the styles he demos, its a great advertisement for that box. I guess its on my list somewhere in the future, but for the most part I only use about 3-4 of the tones he demos. My JVM and Rocktron rack are good enuff at the moment. For a tweaker, it's probably a dream come true.

many thanks guys for replys, very helpfull for me,I got the idea

studying the prices I see that for ex Rebel 30 is in Europe 340$ more expensive than in US.
do you think is risky to have it shipped to Romania (Europe)? (I am thinking at electronic parts, tubes that are more sensitive) .
the shipping is only 110 $ and is looks a great deal...

Hello Paul

I don't know how it is in Romania, but in France you have to pay the VAT (19.6 %) and custom fees. Check if the shipping cost includes all you will have to pay.
Besides, in the U.S they use 110 V ... we Europeans we are twice better because we are using 220 V :D

it has 100V/115V/230V Voltage Selector :p I think all egnater amps have that

I checked today the egnater site and youtube and honestly that tweaker seems a better choice than rebel 20 (has modern /vintage voicing, hot /clean gain - basically you can have 2 channels )

has anyone tried or owned the Tweaker?

The Tweaker is based off the same design. You've only got one channel, but it's more flexible. Guys I know that have played it like it better than the Rebel, fwiw.

Would be nice if it came with a footswitch for switching the modern/vintage, hot/clean, etc. That is if its loud enuff for clubs???? My 15W blues jr. is louder than the 20W rebel, so not sure about Egnater power ratings....

Hey Paolo,

Demoed the tweaker today at GC with my Axis SS. Definitely a very versatile amp, shines mostly on the classic rock vibe and the USA (Fender) clean settings. Surprised that its rated at 15W, as I dimed the master and gain and it wasn't near as loud as my 15W Blues Jr. The switches (vintage/modern, USA/AC/Brit, Clean/Hot, Deep/Bright) have a big effect on the tone. I A/B'ed the head with a Blackstar HT5 head both into the Tweaker matching cab (12" Greenback). With a V30 or G12T-75, the tweaker could do some pretty decent metal tones, but hard to tell with the punchy Greenback. The Blackstar sounds good as ever with the Egnater cab, thinking about picking one of those up again used. Tweaker is a fun little amp, probably have it tuff with a loud drummer, tho....Aren't all drummers loud?

If you just want home practice/recording amp, get Blackstar HT5, if you might play a small gig, too, probably get the Tweaker. Final word on this from me.

@ beej: maybe for others who can try the amps is not worth much, but as far as I'm concerned... I really appreciate all your feedback :)
@Jonny Dubai: thanks for info, shipping is expensive from them
@sandmannn69: many thanks for the feedback man, really helpul :)
My option would be : tweaker + Riot + 12'' cab maybe with V 30
but I have to think twice because that can be around 900 euros which is pretty much for me now.
My friend is selling his 1 year HT5 stack , he's asking 470 euros and the new one is 600 euros + 30 euros shipping.
I'm trying to get it at 400 euros :p , and if it's a deal for 1-2 years at least that is my rig. I will buy something else in 2 years maybe.

let's see , I'll let you know.

thank you all for being so kind :)

so I got the HT 5 stack from my friend for 450 euros, I think it's a good deal for both.
It has though a little problem (I hope is little) : the stand by switch will not make contact and I can hear any sound if I don't hit it hard enough when I switch from stand by to on.
Also if touch that little "button" (I am no sure is the right term) of the stand by switch and move a little in circle sometimes I loose the sound. that button is moving a little is not very fix.
So I assume the switch is not working right and it has to be changed or some solder problem...
My friend is willing to give me back the money and he says the stand by switch was a little loose since the beginning but he thought is not a problem and it's not worth send it back to Thomann for replacement.

what do you think? is this a minor problem or should I return the amp ?

thanks a lot
Paul

Paul,

I'd get yer money back from yer friend since he's willing. The Egnator tweaker is much more versatile than the HT-5, have found switching tubes from the 6V6 to EL34 makes it a little Marshall crunch machine, of course sounds better clean with the 6V6s. If you can find one they are well worth it, have an fx loop like the Blackstar too. As for myself, I'm cleaning house and going to the AxeFx soon, but think I'll keep the Tweaker at least.

Appologies if somebody else has said this but Have you thought/tried the Blackstar club 20 or 40? I had the HT5 combo and a matching 1x10" cab and I couldn't get it to sound right on the clean channel plus I never liked the gain channel it sounded worse than a cheap dirt box into a hifi!

These club 20's and 40's though sound sweet even at low volumes and give a good range of tones plus the gain channel is very usable, you should check them out. If it wasnt for the fact I recently bought a mesa F50 I'd be all over the club 40. Im suprised how nice my mesa sounds at low volume on the clean channel!
