Ive been toying with the idea of placing a humbucker sized P90 in my standard silo.... has anyone done this? How were the results- what did you use?

this was my thoughts on the new config

P90 - hum sized (Neck)

single coil stacked (mid)

P90 - hum sized (bridge)

thoughts? am i crazy? :D

I will be of no help whatsoever cause I have no idea. :)

If no butchery is needed than you’ll have a unique Silo.

I did on an ASS and the results were very good. I'd recommend the phat cat from seymour duncan

I would go

1 Bridge
2 Bridge & Middle
3 Bridge & Neck
4 Neck and Middle
5 Neck

reversible mod on the silo  get a new pickguard and swap that's the beauty of this guitar

+1 on the Phat Cats. Also, the P-Rails are getting some positive reviews, they can be switched single coil, P-90, or humbucking.

I've used Phat Cats and Bluesbuckers (looks like a humbucker, sounds mostly like a P90) with good results.

Do the PhatCats fit the ASS without woodwork? I've thought about another ASS but MM90 ones are hard to find & I don't like the look of the zebra humbuckers.

yep no wood work but a lot of work on the pup itself to let it fit in the space :)

Like what?? Any links to the process?
That guitar looks 100% better than a standard ASS in my opinion, the pickup covers give it a much more "finished" look.......I appreciate I'm in a minority here.

+3 on the Phat Cats...in the right guitar. I put them in an ash guitar, and they were very nice. Tried them in basswood...not so much.

The only mod I had to make to get them to replace Dimarzios was to grind off the mounting flange corners on the Phat Cats...they're square and don't fit into the top-mounted semi-circular cutouts shown in the pic. I'm not sure about the mounting cutouts in a Silo.

I haven't tried them myself, but a lot of guys on the Les Paul forums swear by them. I put DiMarzio 36ths PAFs in my Super Sport and and happy with it.
