Hi,

Just got my Silo Special the other day and I like everything but the bridge humbucker. The Hi Mids sound ice picky with my rig. Positions 2-4 sound awesome and I really like the single coils. My other guitars have a Seymour Duncan JB and sound very good.

If I change the pickup to a JB is it going to wreck my position 2 sound?

What pick ups have you guys changed to with good results?

Thanks!

Changing the bridge humbucker on a SS special will change all the sounds except 4&5 due to the way the PUs are wired. 1 is the H, 2 is one coil of the H with M, and 3 is 1 coil of the H with N

I've had a WCR Goodwood made with an A2 and it's UNBELIEVBLE !

I'd be wantin to try a PAF 36th Anniversary in my Silo Spec bridge.

And believe it or not, I think I'd like a Sub 1 bridge pup in my Sub Spec better than the stock pup. Sub 1 bridge pups rock..... flat out! But they only come in black.

Well I went ahead and put a Seymour Duncan JB in my Silo. I am much happier with this pick up than the dimarzio. Positions 2-3 still sound nice and twangy so all good there. More bass and less Hi Mids so very good for chunky Mesa style rhythms.

Also, does anybody know what kind of Dimarzio the stock pick up is?

As I've been told, prior to 2005 it was a DiMarzio custom pickup. After that it was a DM Virtual PAF. According to the DM site, that one was discontinued for the Air Classic™ Bridge model, the original uncovered version of the PAF Classic™. However, I've heard no official word from MM about what HB they are now using since the end of the Virtual PAF.
