I was planning on bring my guitar to Chicago for 3 weeks from Phoenix and I was wondering if the change in humidty would cause the frets to raise

Steve, I think you'll be alright if you leave it in the case when your not playing it.

Hey Steve,

for about three weeks there should be no problem with the frets. Wood needs a longer time to dry out .
It's shurely no bad idea to oil the fretboard time to time, this will keep the fretboard in a good condition.

the frets are glued in.
if you meant cause the action to raise.....it very well may or may not. but thats why ebmm makes their truss rod so user friendly.........a quick turn or 2 in the needed direction.....and your back to normal. (my turns equal about 45 degrees) :D

typically.....when a neck goes from a typically very dry place to a typically humid place......the neck absorbs some humidity........makeing the neck ever so slightly softer. that allows the pressure from the strings to make the neck bow slightly more.....resulting in slightly higher action. and ..typically...the opposite happens when you go from a humid place to a dry place.

also.... going from phoniex to chicago would only affect the guitar alot if the guitar was outside alot in chicago. the indoor humidity will probably be the same in both places if the ac is on all the time......as ac greatly removes the humidity from the air...making both citys relatively the same condition indoors.....

THERE WILL BE A QIZ ON THIS STUFF IN S.L.O.
