As far as keeping the amp simple, I don't really see why this would be a problem as long as the amp management doesn't get intrusive in a Vista kind of way ("You have tried to dial in more bass. This could result in a too fat tone and exploding yaks. Cancel or proceed?")...

To Peter's point - spot on - I love my Little Mark II for the simplicity, and the ease at which I can vary / find my tone via the VLE and VPF circuitry.

Personally, not sold on MB's cabs. Glad to hear good reviews tho. To me, a BIG benefit of the cost of the LMII was how it allowed me to allocate more $$$ towards a sweeter cab. Depending on your tone goals, give the Berg or Epi a shot.

It very much depends on what you are looking for in a cab. In a showroom
situation, the MB cabs tend to sound less "nice" and not as hifi as other cabs. But on stage, they really cut through also at lower volume levels. And that is exactly why I have an amp on stage: To hear myself. The PA does all the rest. If I wanted a "beatiful" sounding cab, I'd probably also check out other cabs. However, it's also important to check out the different MB cab lines, because they have very different characteristics. Just checked out the 810 classic cab yesterday and it sounded quite different than the 104 HF next to it... much more "classic" for lack of a better word, yet IMO more focused, tight and crisp than the equivalent SVT cab. A MB cab that totally blew me away was the NYC 604 (4x6"): incredible sound to size ratio - I seriously considered replacing my 104HRs with them, but I'm still too chicken to stray from the well known 4x10 stack

Wow...thanks for the compliment on the CD. I hope to begin a new project this winter sometime.

I have heard that MB cabs shine in a louder/more dense situation. My rig was put together around very intimate performance settings.

I was A/B'ing a SD 800 into a 104HR and the Jeff Berlin Combo. Not so much against each other as I was interested in both. I played a MM SR5, natch.

While I liked the Jeff Berlin, it was a little "barky" for me. As always, you can fool around with the EQ. The top end was nice. Not brittle at all, as one might expect for a 15" with no tweeter, and you can slap away and hear everything. But the low end didn't do a lot for me. Fine at lower levels, but once the volume went up you had to be careful with your touch. Granted, I was also playing through a pretty nice head/cab setup right next to it so it's hard not to say "that sounds better, that sounds worse". But while I really wanted to like the combo, I decided against it.

In the end, I didn't get any of the above. I got a TA 503 (which I love) and am running it through one of my Acme B2's as a practice amp.

I am sure that MarkBass is fine gear, there are too many people using it not to be. After spending over a month reading posts and asking questions on TB I went with Genz Benz. I wanted the new technology light weight stuff because I'm not as young as I once was. Their were many choice out there, but I kept being drawn back to the Genz Benz so a Shuttle Max 12.0 and a 212T Neox cabinet is my new rig. I don't think I could be more pleased. It has to this point far out weighed my expectations. We all have opinions and for now this is mine.
We are EBMM fans or we wouldn't be on this forum, but some like Bongos, some don't. Honestly I would love to have one of every thing in the bass line BP and his team make, but that's not going to happen. 3 cheers for MarkBass and those who love them.

Well honestly I am very satisfied with the 212T Neox, it supposedly weighs 50 lbs but it don't feel like it. Slides easily in and out of the back seat of my Taurus. I see in many of his videos that Ed Friedland is playing through that cabinet.

How do you like your B2's? Is a single B2 enough to handle a club-sized room?

LOVE the B2's. And they love power. I have two 4 ohm B2's as the "top half" of my rig and power them with a QSC PLX-2402.

As you might guess, I'm not a "less is more" kinda guy so I would have to say that unless you are playing an acoustic gig at a small club a single B2 isn't gonna do it. But I'd say that about almost any small cab, particularly playing rock music with a loud drummer.

I will say though, that when you stack the B2's vertically they sound huge! The bottom one effectively becomes your woofer by being coupled to the floor and then you have that great clarity of the top one close to ear level. The B2's handle low end, even the low B, very well.
