Whilst this one has been bashed to death, I want to give my 2c, 2p or whatever currency you use.

I was in GC in Utah a little over a month ago. They had a new Marshall amp head, made in the UK, in Milton Keynes which is about 50 odd miles from where I live. It cost £100 ($200) more than in cost to buy in the UK. I asked how much a Boogie Dual Recto cost in US$, it was $1800 (£900). The same amp, shipped to the UK, going through the same distribution model costs £1800 here ($3600).

Whilst its not anyones fault, it shows how we get utterly and totally ripped of in Britain.

as you should.......JUST KIDDING

I dont know if Marshall gets tax incentives to export...I dont get them here...Marshall has a tremendous distribution system here where they leverage Korg too to ofset costs....

I can tell you that I make about 8% lower when I sell international and it still translates to higher costs to you guys

Also when you see specific item at GC or MF many times they buys acontainer load or clear the warehouse at a great price...everything we make is presold so I dont have a warehouse

I think alot of the shops in the uk sell pretty close to retail,I think that has alot to do with lack of competition and only a couple of chains,It doesn't always pay off to get gear from the states when you account for vat/tax and shipping costs but right now with the x-change rate it can do if you get a good deal.

The flipside is a brand like cornford amps that are british and can be bought over here for prices that compete with mass produced gear, but in the states people are paying high end boutique prices for it... and people do

Maybe Marshall was a bad example...

I just wanted to give the US guys some background why all of us British and European are so riled by prices here. I did find the pricing on the whole Marshall
UK made line in GC, and indeed looking at MF etc it was still pretty consistant with my example.

Again, blaming no-one BP.

BP - I'm in Eagle, kind of a yuppie / pretentious community just outside of Boise - recall, you replied to a comment of mine in another thread about being here, and that Boise is a fun town - shoulda let me know you were coming, I could have given the tour (or hopped on your Party Train!)- however, in Boise, you don't really NEED a guide to find a good time!;)

....now that I have your ear for a second - MAN you make a great guitar! You'll probably never tire of hearing that, nor will you ever NOT hear that a lot...
