My GC rarely carries EB guitars (I’ve seen 2 guitars in 4 years) – which is a crime against guitar humanity. To tell ya the truth, I actually browse the guitar section on every visit hoping to find a MM guitar on the wall. To my delightful surprise, I finally found a Luke in Radiance Red with a RW neck on the wall! First of all, I was blown away at how amazing Radiance red is in person. No joke. This color is drop dead gorgeous – I would have never considered it had I not seen it in person. It breaks my heart that many people will probably ever get to appreciate it as no picture does this color any justice.

I then plugged the Luke into an Egnater mini-halfstack. I was blown away. To reference the guitar’s sound though, I plugged in a significantly more expensive Fender strat. I doodled around for a good 10 minutes and then plugged the Luke back in… oh the humanity, it was like night and day - the Luke is a Strat-killer, hands down.

I’ve been looking to get a Silhouette Special but now I’m torn because the Luke has given me something to think about. This was my first time playing a Luke. I definitely need to A/B a Luke and a SS – only problem is it’s near impossible to find a SS and a Luke at the same store.

(drooling…)

I'd love to have a Luke! They are beautiful guitars and the actives would give such a different tone than my other guitars. The neck is more of a 'V' shape on the Luke and is wider than the Silo's neck.

Glad to got to try one! Very cool.

Yeah, they're quite different in the neck. I'm generally a fan of picking the ones that are the most comfortable. Sonic differences you can usually EQ for.

Hi,

Welcome to the addiction mate....
As we say in our neighbourhood: pictures don't tell the whole story.....

The Luke model is one you cannot put down: you keep on playing it and the more you play on it, the more you are going to appreciate the neck: it fits like a glove.

Where abouts are ya?

One of our local GC's consistantly kept exactly one EBMM guitar in stock. They'd sell it and then another one would come in. A few months ago, not only did they get in 2 Lukes, a Silo, a JP and a rosewood neck ASS BFR (and a used JP mystic dream) but they dedicated one of the "islands" and hung 4 of the EBMM's there. I used them as reference guitars when doing the mod on my sub.

I still have yet to try a Luke.
I've only seen one once.
I'm very curious about the neck.

I also love the Luke. It's super easy to play and gives me an awesome sound with the active pickups. It's a very comfortable and versatile guitar that screams. I personally went with the Candy Red and love that deeper/darker red color over the radiance red.

The Luke really struck me too. First it was the looks, then the sound and neck wowie. I play it the most, though I'm getting alot of action on the Super Sport lately.

The Luke is a superb guitar for the many reasons mentioned above but also it's instant inspiration when you pick one up and play it...it covers a lot of sonic ground.

Look forward to some pics!

The Luke has one of the most comfortable necks I've ever played and the EMGs make it a very versatile guitar.

Try one and you're hooked.

Thanks for sharing your story Fides!

Your story reminds me of my first time contact with Luke.. it's just right since the first time.. the neck was little bit awkward at the first time.. but after 10 minutes.. feels like heaven :D

go try SS man, i had that comparing experience too before i decided that i prefer the low profile fret and the smaller neck on luke.

Good luck!
