I found this bongo at guitar center, and I picked it up to play with it, noting to my girlfriend how ugly it was, plugged it in and played a little bit, it actually sounded VERY good, now im not a 5 string player but I was looking for one.. I loved the sound of the Low B, anyways I put it back up and walked around, that bass kept attracting my attention, its a double humbucker in an orangish color with a white pickgaurd. I couldn't keep my eyes off of it as ugly as it was.. I WANTED IT! I was so close to taking it home with me.. It was 1299 and it was used but in mint condition, the guy said he would knock off 55$ I would have talked him down to 1200 or maby a litle less and some new strings..

Anyways this thing has been stuck in my mind!! I cannot stop thinking about it, I told the salesman that I liked that ugly bass on the wall. Its crazy, I always hated them thought they looked so stupid and wondered why anyone would want to play one.. But I never saw one IN COLOR, AND 5 STRING, in person..

So now I'm thinking about going in tomorrow and getting it.. Have a gig wends, if I don't like it I can return it.. But my sparkle red stingray will have to go.. If I go tomorrow I'm walking out with a 5 string.... either a 1,300 bongo, or a 200$ 5 string squire jazz.... Its a good price for a bongo I think, but I not sure if the looks will last for me.. And I could always get a used SR5 online for much less... I don't know what to do!!

Spencer, I almost edited your post but then I realized you're talking about a used Bongo.

Might I suggest you offer them maybe 950? Wave the cash around. Say things like, "I'll live either way" and "I think I might go have something to eat now" and so on.

I realize it's a GC and they have to make money on used items, but used Bongos sell here all day for 850-1000 bucks, depending on what it is.

Well, I think we all know what's going to be the more popular choice HERE.

Really I had no idea they went for this little used here.. I will defiantly rethink it and try to talk them down... I guess I never paid attention because i never wanted a bongo,

But I thought the Orange HH 5 string in like new condition was cheap for that much.. Thanks, might have to look around here then...

Stop bitching about ugliness, and just realize you are for the frist time in your life contemplating a truly innovative bass with a contemporary desing instead of exactly what you are used to...

Now shut up, get yourself a Bongo and rule the world:D

Not that I'm trying to influence you or anything :p, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

That color is called Desert Gold, and it goes really well with a tort or black pickguard.

You cannot deny the Bongo Mind Control Rays. You are already feeling their effects. It is only a matter of time. You are DOOMED.

They're great basses for sure, but man that is a ton of cash for a used Bongo.

Hold out for a little better price, more in the range of what Jack listed.

Anyone that calls my bongo ugly would have to pay double what it cost new to get it after they found out it was the best bass on earth. :)
