That's "luke-xis", not "luck-xis" ;)

Ok I got really bored tonight and decided to swap the Axis neck in there. Fits perfectly and feels pretty damn good, actually. Might keep it like that for a while!

Thats cool! But I have always wanted to see a Luke with a maple board and would like to hear how that sounds! Do you have any maple necks? Maybe from the AL? :D

Yep- same scale length and neck size. Should probably intonate it, but it sounds pretty close right now. I'll do a proper setup if I keep it this way.

I thought about swapping in a maple neck, but my Sport is set up so nicely right now I didn't want to mess with it and take the neck off. For another night in the near future ;) (After I test drive a 20th Morselo.)

Beej, ya know what would be a very cool idea, would be to record two basic tracks with the same guitar body but different necks, one with rosewood, one with maple. Same tune, same pickup selection, same amp and recording settings. Just to see what the effect is.

Or, even better, post the two tracks and see how many identify the right necks.

Just an idea, in case you have some spare time coming up that you need to kill, or something...

I just want the othe two pieces luke neck and axis body, that would be mine.
When I visited the factory in 1994 I asked about that exact combination and the I got a " you have to buy both guitars" back - not much has changed since then I guess:-((

That is an excellent idea! I'd love to do it at some point.

Tres cool Beej :cool::cool::cool:

Did you go the otherway and put together the Axuke (that's "azook" not "axe-uke" ;)) ? Or now do you just have the extra bits lying about? I know I probably would have held on to my Silo Spec had I felt better with the neck. But I just prefer the AL and Axis profiles. The left hand feel won out over the right forearm comfort and I'm going back to another Super Sport.

Actually, what happened was that I came into a few unused Axis necks (including a Rosewood!). I'm going to use one or two for projects and I'll probably sell the others. (The Luke got the one with the black headstock.) I try and grab parts when they're available.

I still have a hard time with the Luke neck, it's just too small for me. It's fun to play though. I'm generally pretty comfortable with the MM neck contours (except the Petrucci, which just doesn't fit me)- but the Morse, Axis and AL are definitely tops. I kept thinking, if I found a SSS Axis Sport at a good price I'd snap it up and pimp it. But the Axis neck on the Luke might just do it :)
