Santa brought "Rock Band" to the Casa de Fox and I can't tell you when I've laughed as much or had a better time.

One thing I noticed immediately is that it's helping my kids count...while that's not totally necessary it's a pretty good metronome. They've also now expressed interest in the real thing since I let them keep the Guitar Control right next to my JP6 and the drums are lined up right there too.

My oldest has already aske me to start learning some of the songs so I can teach him the REAL guitar versions...

If that's not enough reason to buy a game, I don't know what would make it right. My three are showing more interest in playing music now than ever and the two oldest boys are alread in the band at Middle School.

Yep, it's not as good as the real thing but I sure did have fun the other night, especially when my some of my in-laws dropped by with their Rock Band Guitar which allowed us to add a Bass to the band!

Great game!

I was at Best Buy the other night and they had 8 or 9 different guitars for this game.

I was pointing them out to Patty when the clerk walked up and said "So, you play Guitar Hero"?

I said "No, I play an actual guitar". :D

He rolled his eyes and made a "PFFFT" sound.

We laughed ourselves silly! :D

I gotta get in here on this one. My wife bought the game (GH Rocks the 80´s) for our kids on her way back from vacation after we had discussed it. I knew nothing about it other than it was a game for PS2. (I work around 12-14 hrs a day repairing guitars so I don´t get out too much  ) I gave it to the kids and really didn´t think too much about it. I did notice shortly thereafter hearing Quiet Riot, Scorpions and other songs coming from their room. I watched and then decided that it was an interesting "game" but that it lacked reality or difficulty to be a guitar teaching or musical instructional tool.

Boy was I wrong.

I have now completed all the songs in medium on two different GH games and enjoy the crap out of watching my 7 year old son get mad until he can finish the song that is stopping him from moving on. I think it is an excellent tool to improve hand-eye coordination and motor skills along with dexterity. Since I know and can play a vast majority of the songs on a real guitar, I too ended up having to learn to play the song as it in the game - but I still think it is at some points harder than actually playing the song on a real guitar.

It is interesting to note the marketing involved and WHO is in the game and who is not.
