I saw Dream Theater last night and JP pulled his 06LE out for "Octavarium". The gold hardware looked magnificent under the lights - you could tell it was a special guitar.

As far as I know it wasn't 06LE edition, but special BFR model - one of two existing. The second one is held in EB vault I asked the same question some time ago and got this answer. BTW I saw this guitar live a month ago and yeah, it's magnificent!

I hate gold hardware because...I can't find one for myself! I'd buy such t-shirt

That was a good one to rekindle.

Speaking from experience I would say that what is left of the gold plating on my Les Paul looks great - it's kinda like when people start going grey - it makes them look distinguished!!

The Gold plating on my LEAL it is as good as the day it was made. I won't lose any sleep if it does start to fade.

BP must have been pretty confident of the product when he made it part of the '06 LE package.

I have always liked gold hardware. My first good guitar was an Aria PE1200, and this had the gold and looked real classy.

I just don't particularly like it... too fancy. lol I love black plated hardware... would look sweet on the JPMs (Yes I know why it can't be and I'll hardly ever be complaining about it's lack of availability LOL Just a disclaimer because tensions are high about wishful thinking lately and tension makes us respond differently than we normally would)... like the chrome too (oddly enough because I used to hate chrome hardware but my tastes have definitely changed over the years.)
