Today I arrived home from work and could hear playing upstairs...kind of a jp sound :p
I walked in and found my father playing my JP LE06
He didn't know I had spent 20 minutes cleaning the fretboard and polishing the guitar the night before
I was really pissed....
It's happened other times to, that when friends come to my house and they ask me if they can try my guitar, I get a little jealous and suggest they play my old ibanez instead.
How are you about your balls?
do you let anyone touch them or as soon as you see someone go near them you get all protective and stuff?

It's pretty much understood in my house...hands off the Balls! I keep the Dargie in the case, and the A.S.S. is hanging in my office with my other axes...so even my friends that come over know that my guitars are not to be touched.

LOL!
I'm pretty protective of my stuff as well.
I don't mind letting people try my stuff if I'm there and if they actually play guitar.
If they no nothing about guitar, then it's hands off.
If somebody helped themselves without me there, I'd be pissed too.
But if it's your Dad, come on. It's a good thing.

It like the buddy that does not have computer and likes to place on line bets or surf for smut. I do not want people using it. The EB-MM thing is a little different. I make people hold and feel the quality of a great guitar. I am trying to spread the word of the ALOC. It part of my fellowship.

Don't get pissed at Dad, I'd give anything for mine to still alive playing mine...make the most of it. I never object to anyone who asks properly and am always keen to spread the word regarding EBMM. What really pisses me is the Elvis Wanabee's who pick them up when your not looking at gigs to give an uninvited version of Heartbreak Hotel whilst downing another pint of lager

When I was in highschool I remember coming home in the afternoon and would find my guitar case open, or moved, or my pick in a different posistion than where I left it. I knew my dad was jamming in there while he came home for lunch. It used to drive me CRAZY!!! Especially since he rarely let me use any of his tools, or whatever. Muurrrhhh!
I realize now that it was only because of him that I started playing guitar. Haha I don't know your situation, but I totally know exactly what you are talking about. I guess as I got older I started to mellow out with my possesions. I'm trying to make this my slogan for life: Expect nothing, but be thankful for everything.

Maybe just mention it to your pops ?? Or!!! Get a lock for your case ;)

well obviously I wasn't mad at him, I picked up his guitars many times too :)
I was more like "well, now that you've finally understood that EBMM's are the best, you could go and get one your self and give me mine back" :)

I know what you mean - I love that my son plays my Bongos - and I love hearing him play - it's when he plays right after a PB&J sandwich or greasy potato chips that I hit the roof. He is getting better -lately I've noticed him washing up before hand, and wiping the neck down after, so I'm getting somewhere. My acoustic that he constantly plays takes a beating, though....

still I'd rather have him play more than not!:)

Well said, Jodie. I'd say give dad a break, so long as he isn't actually hurting anything. What's a fresh set of strings and a few fingerprints cost?

I will admit, I'm a little apprehensive about my youngest coming to stay a few days next week. I'm sorta anal about my stuff, keeping things in tip top shape, and that certainly goes for my guitars as well. He's a little more, shall we say, heavy handed. I don't want to inhibit his freedom to play and enjoy my guitars, but I will establish a couple of house rules, such as wash hands before playing, and wipe them down before putting them away. But if they escape dings and dents by his hands I'll be fine with the rest. I expect he'll convert before he leaves.

well I don't need to change the strings, I would have played it anyway, guitars are made to be played, not to be looked at :)
but you know, I arrived home knowing that when I opened the case I would have found a nice clean guitar, but surprise xD
oh well, not the end of the world :)
It's just that I really care about my jp because i worked hard to get it (don't know about the US but in italy a jp costs more than 2000€) so I like it to bet as perfect as possible :)

Only under supervision do I allow it. I'm picky as hell. :D If I bring it to school or whatever though, NO ONE touches it but me.

I tried to be a nice guy and lent my Albert Lee to a friend of my bass player. The guy actually raised the pickups trying to get the sound he wanted out of it. Tells me that as he's giving it back to me, totally matter-of-fact, like discussing the weather...I couldn't even make him see why he shouldn't have done that. My bass player let him have it better than I could.

Lesson learned.
