Got to meet Norm (aka Norm) at the GC Guitarmagedon event here in Toosawn. The event was interesting. 6 contestants. The basses they were playing had 2 extra strings and were really short scaled. Really high pitched as well. No one knew how to stay in the pocket and were playing 16th notes at times.
Seriously, they were all good players. Some had flash some had splash at least one was old school and had my toes a tappin'. Norm was the classiest sounding but he didn't win. He was playing a Silhouette with Piezos
and I think it was the only EBMM there
. The piezos had a nice sound, at least Norm played them to good effect. Definitely a sound that stood out from the other players that were using a lot of distortion.
Listening to Norm and the others was great. Gives me some fresh motivation to get on top of the bass playing, find somebody to jam with and learn to groove.
It was great meeting Norm and put a face to the name. I plan on catching some of his gigs when I got the time.
