Well last night I cleaned up one of my guitars, and I put a light coat of lemon oil on the fretboard...now since I knew I was going to change the strings, I carefully did it between the strings, pushing them aside, but if some got on, it was ok, cause today I was putting on new strings (seven of them to be exact).
So I proceeded to install a brand new set of EBMM 7 String Reg. Slinky's on my trem equipped guitar. So, wanting to save time I strung the non ball-end through the machine heads in towards the bridge, into the saddle, then I locked it. at the other end, and this is the stupid part, I pulled tight on the slack, wrapping 1/2 way back and tighten the machine head to pitch...are you guys hearing this...and I did it with all seven strings...so then I began to stretch and tune...well not for long cause, ping, pang out came the strings...dang I must have thought I was dealing with good ol' locking tuners. A word of advice, don't listen to me when I try and give out advice :o

I don't blame you, and I was so proud of my nice neat wind, or lack of wind I should say...what a maroon!

You mean, instead of cutting the string a bit closer to length you just wrapped it around the post a few times and then tuned to pitch?

No the opposite of what is normally done, I restrung it as if the tuners were locking...I pulled tight on the string, bent the excess back, (here is where you normally lock the tuner) , tuned to pitch then cut the excess with ZERO wrap or wind...oh well I'm on my second set of strings ...(I think I have the record), this time I've got it right!

It you were a cartoon, they would have unwound very fast then flew back wacked you in the face, then wrapped around your neck!

I got you now... no wrap at all....

lol... that's pretty funny. We've all done something equally as silly... and more recently than we'd like to admit. LOL

Hah! Thanks Raz, that got a good smile outta me this morning.

Yeah ... I think we've all had those moments ...
