... and as a Canadian, I'm somewhat embarassed that I didn't really know much about him until now. I heard Snortin' Whiskey this weekend and was blown away by this guy's playing and tone - great voice too.

Any one out there who can provide some info on his best releases (he seems to have quite a catalog!) and where I might find some tab, I would be most grateful.

Thanks!

I used to have a live album of his with Pat Thrall. My favorite song was "Boom Boom, Out Go The Lights".

I have the "Black Pearl" album from the early 80's. Like many albums of that era, there is too much chorus and flanger, but Pat still gets a mean sound. The album features "I La La La Love You" which was the radio hit, but also has a cool version of Beethoven's Fifth and some wicked jazz and blues on "Amgwanna Kick Booty" and "I'd Rather See You Dead."

I had a concert ticket for one of his shows that was cancelled back in 81 or 82 I think. Never got the chance to see him since either. Have always liked his playing.

That live "Go For What You Know" LP was a killer indeed, and a rock radio staple down south back in the 80s.

Talk about a guy who can kick out the jams....Pat's very tasty player whom I've been lucky to see several times in a club environment - about all he does these days, in fact, mostly down in Florida where he's lived for years - if you ever have a chance to catch him, it's an evening well spent.

FYI: if you like heavy bluesy stuff, he did a bunch of CDs on the Shrapnel label several years ago you might wanna seek out.

Oh, another great classic PT tune: "Heat In The Street". He does a neat volume knob thing on "Stevie" too.

Pat Travers is an awesome player. Our band plays Snortin' Whiskey. I play the Travers part and sing, and our lead player plays the Thrall part.

I highly recommend a CD with Pat Travers on it. It is from a group called the L.A. Blues Authority. They were a studio band with a compilation of guest musicians. They made a few tribute CDs to different blues artists. The one in particular I am referring to is called "Cream of the Crop". It is a tribute to Cream. Pat Travers plays "Sunshine of your Love", and rips it up. Jeff Watson does the most kick-ass version of "Born under a bad Sign" that I've ever heard. All around an outstanding CD if you love tasty blues and unbelieveable tone.
