My local GC is an awesome place. Not only is the service awesome, but they have multiple EBMM products on display: 3 or 4 ASS's, 2 Lukes, the JP's they used to have are sold, and I lost count of the basses. Oh, and they hooked me up on my EBMM, so that makes them even cooler. As this story is about to relate, you'll see how cool they are.

Me and 2 friends went to our local Geetar Center so they could check out some new axes. I'm broke, so I just played around, but one of them bought a low end guitar and a small amp (I posted a thread about him, see OLP vs. Other Guitar Packs), the other went big and bought a beast of a guitar, made by some guy named Paul from MD.

To the point, we got home and my one friend was anxious to play his Paul-something-whatsit, so he goes to open the case and he can't... it's locked. He freaks out, starts screaming about how everytime he goes to this place they screw him, so they have to drive 45 mins all the way back up to GC to get the case unlocked. I stayed home to play guitar, the King of the Blues festival was in full throttle and I didn't want to interrupt.

Can anyone guess how this story turns out?

I am going to take a shot at this.

He goes back to the GC madder than a bobcat. The store apologizes and goes to get the keys to the Paul-whatchamacall-it. To the stores and your buddy's dismay...they don't have the keys! Now you buddy is really upset. So, the store tells him to hold on as they look.

While on a "holding pattern" he picks up an EB. He starts to play the EB just to pass the time. All of a sudden, he realizes how much he loves the EB. He is starting to realize maybe he made a mistake. He tells the salesguy/gal that he is really taken to the EB. He wants the EB instead! The salesguy/gal (still not finding the keys) is more than happy to cut him a sweet deal on the axe. Case included with keys that work!

Or....they cut open the other case with a hatchet and in doing so, ruined the other guitar.....;)...but offered a free set of strings....

Pt. II

Alright, alright. Here's the end.

I sat at my friends house and played his guitar and watched the place while he took my unlucky bud back up to the store to resolve the matter. They came home a little over an hour later and everyone was laughing.

They gave him a TKL hardshell to go with his Purple-Rabbit-Sucker, you know, the kind where you have to slide the lock over to open the case.     Yea. Apparently, he tried everything to open the case except opening it. Forgive him, he's used to gigbags :D

But, since he had to drive all the way up there to have his stupidity amplified, GC gave him 6 packs of EB Hybrids to ease his mind.

I love GC :]

I figured somebody would get a kick out of that. Good guitars are usually meant for players that can open the case.

Maybe I was wrong?

I thought it was funny. Maybe it's just one of those things you have to be there for :/

Actually, that is quite amusing! Kinda like my guitar player and his strap lock incident. He did not put the nut on the release part on the strap and all of a sudden parts are flying everywhere....hehehehe.....gotta love these things. :D

Hah- that's funny. I've felt that stupid on many an occasion  Nice of GC to give him some strings for his trouble.

I hope nothing got broken

I thought the free string deal was hilarious. It was like adding insult to injury

For those of you upset that the story didn't end with him buying a MM, the other guitarist in his band will be buying an all Rosewood ASS soon, so it's all good. Conversion is eminent.

" Purple-Rabbit-Sucker " - good one.

Actually, the buddy I jam with has a PRS, and I think it is an awesome instrument. Like you, I prefer my EBMM, but you have to admit that PRS is also a high quality guitar manufacturer.
