True - perhaps. I have had 4 other Bongos - all without headstock dings. A new purchase, IMO, should be ding-free.
Maybe these should ship with little Bongo Headstock protective beanies.

Bill,

I think you're onto something there. I'm gonna ask our secretary, Ali, to crochet one for mine! :D

Sadly the Bongo is already on its way back to SLO.

Happily I have been assured that its boo-boo will be repaired and all will be well. Thank you AJ and all the folks at EBMM.

Unfortunately - the time quote was "best case - 6 weeks". Bummer.

If that Bongo left the factory without any headstock dings, it appears that the Bongo case is not snug enough to prevent movement during shipping. With normal care it's probably not an issue, but to UPS guys it's just another cardboard box with something inside that rattles. A little bubble wrap or newspaper between the headstock and the edge of the case might have prevented the headstock chips.

I'm wary of this type of thing when I ship basses that I sell on ebay, so I always pack the inside of the case with additional padding to prevent the bass moving in any direction, and tape a strip of cardboard to the fingerboard to prevent roundwound strings from gouging the board in transit.

I'd like to hear the story.

Here is the story from my end. Eggman opens case. Eggman unties and starts to take off plastic bag - Eggman finds dings in his new bass. Eggman calls dealer - gets no reply. Eggman calls CS - they are very helpful.

the cases are more than snug enough and basses (Bongos included) fit fine.

then again, like with the bus in Slapshot....

That's great to hear. My HH Bongo was purchased back in the dark ages when Bongos didn't ship with a case, and my Dargie Bongo is doing a victory lap of the country before it comes to my house, so I've never seen a factory Bongo case in the flesh as yet.

You're good, Bill.

And DANG what a great looking bass!

(Sometimes I wish I'd ordered a Bongo in DD but I already had all the configs.)
