I learned a valuable leasson this past month...

The story starts at the beginning of July. I wasn't looking to buy a new bass , but I came across a new Lefty (name of bass to remain anonymous, no not a F*****). Wasn't a steal of deal, pretty much what it would cost anywhere else. Seeing how hard it is to find quality Lefties off the shelf I purchased it on the spot. I've had it set-up two times and still am not happy with it. Now, I understand that the quality of this bass is exceptional and many players love them I find it just isn't for me. How can an $1800 ($2000 after tax) bass just not be good? Then I find a lefty Buttercream for $1500 a few weeks ago. I feel like a douche! I could have had the Stingray of my (immediate) dreams instead of this bass that I will likely sell on ebay for a fraction of what I paid.

Anyway, I now know the Stingrays are THE ONLY bass for me and I shall never falter!

Thanks for listening to what is undoubtedly the worst mistake of 2006.

I still have my StingRay 4. I just wished I would have kept my money and then I'd have the super sweet Left Handed SR 2005 LE! :(

Hey LM don't fret, regrets are no good at all for you. Think ahead, maybe take your time getting a fair price for your mistake and move on in '07, like Blue Dawn maybe on your horizon. Maybe the 20th will be offered in a southpaw as well. You might by chance come across an '05 BC as well, you just never know.;)

Thanks for the words, I'm going to try and sell it on ebay . The music store in Houston still has the 2005 BC lefty so if I can get enough for the Spector to pay for that I'll be more than happy. ;)

Don't feel bad. The "bass mistake" that you've made is the story of my life--'cept I've done it with $3500 basses. Hopefully I've gotten over doing stuff like that now. It never seems to work out, no matter how expensive or "cool" the other bass is, it seems I always return to Musicman basses (and J-basses) sooner or later. In your shoes I'd be doing the same thing. Off that evil S*ect*r and snag that EBMM.

anyways... ya, i never ended up liking the bass then traded it in for a BC Sterling and all was right again :)

At least you found what you like. Many players go through 20 basses looking for that. (I think they call themselves "collectors".)

Don't feel too bad. Read a thread over on talkbass about a guy that paid $5k for a custom and waited 2-3 years and it was crap quality and completely wrong. Forget the builder's name, but he has a reputation of building basses when he needs more money for pot.

I thought you guys were joking about a lefty guitar store. Maybe the prices are backwards and the guitar only costs $0051 dollars???

I find that the longer I live & play bass, the less I like my J-bass. :D It just doesn't feel & sound nearly as good to me as my Stingrays.

I came home this afternoon & put some new Super Slinkys on my J@zz. I jammed on it for a while. Then I put it back in its case. It just doesn't move me anymore! The tone & the feel are all wrong. I think it's time to send it off to a new home & then buy another EBMM!!

After this, I strapped on one of my Stingrays, and all was right with the world once again. F$nders are really cool & I like them a lot, but they don't suit my taste any longer.
