Hear ya, and I add in a Phase 90 and a Crybaby in the front. I only call on them from time to time, but good to have -- you can see my whole setup at http://www.fulwilder.com .

Nice rig man, just interested, what does the 3 single coil silo sound like through a 5150? mainly the bridge pickup, cause l've never heard a 5150 with single coils, besides my Luke that is.

I have a patch that does like 18 repeats of a delay (my group does a cover of the No Doubt version of It's My Life, and I only use it for the solo and the pick slide going into the last chorus -- man, talk about being quick with your feet there! :p)

I love running a Midi controller on my rig, it so much easier than dancing and hitting stomp boxes. I don't really have that many presets, just ones l need for the cover songs we do, Like we do Don Henleys - Boys of summer, and got a preset that has like a slapback delay, just to make that bird sound in the middle section. But l try to go for a constant sound through out a gig, l don't want to be changing presets all night, l've also got a preset which l call the "80's preset" it's just like steve lukathers sound in the 80's, just a 80's sound, layers after layers of effects, don't really use it, but it's fun to use every now and then.

But it was only by accident that l run my sound pretty dirty now, cause l'm guilty of having too many effects on my sound, but one night at practise my effects processor stopped working, l pulled out my old Boss me-8, but was too noisy and was useless, so l decided to go it dry, and was very impressed, and haven't looked back yet. :D

I'll second the Cornford recomendation as I am sure Steve would, but they are very expensive in the states due to the exchange, where as they represent fantastic value over here.

As Lew said! :D

Just when you thought this thread would die..

Well, I finally got the chance to try the Peavey JSX head. It was pretty decent, but I have better tones happening with my current rig, so I'll pass on it I think.

I loved the 'crunch' channel, but I wasn't thrilled with the 'Ultra' channel. The clean was pretty good, but they said you can't make it break up.. you can if you send some piezo output into it! hehehehe.

I thought it was a bit squealy.. lots of feedback before it even got to be very loud. I tried it through a Peavey 4x12 cabinet with my JP6. I regularly crank my Peavey Classic 120/120 to earth-moving volumes without this kind of squeal.. plus there's the constant (tho' not too loud) 'buzz' of this sucker.. even with the JSX's noise gate engaged. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the comparative 'silence' that I have using a modeling pedalboard + power amp?

Overall, though, it was a pretty cool sounding amp head. I'd consider one for half of the going price, but I'm not about to shell out more than 1k for something that doesn't blow my current sound away.

I will say that it beat the pants off the the Marshall JCM2000 TSL/DSL heads that I tried last week. This really surprised me. I wanted to love those Marshall's, but they just didn't cut it. I would still love to try a Triple X to hear what those 6L6's sound like compared to the EL34's that i'm so used to hearing. (My Peavey Classic 120/120 has been modded to use the EL34's for a long time, now.)

I'll have to keep shlepping around the city/county/tri-state area to find a store with a XXX in stock. Meanwhile, I've got renewed respect for my modeling pedalboard and power amp combination. You might say the "GAS" has "passed".
