(I wanted to be a bass player when I was 16 and lost out on this preference by tossing a coin with a buddy - he became a bass player - I took up guitar.)

Me and my brother did the same thing... except just the opposite. We both wanted to play guitar, and he lost. Actually he always says the coin flip worked out great for him - he is a damn good bass player.

Oh and Spud, having a decent bass in the house is a good thing. ;) Definitely nice if you do home recording.

Nothing wrong with a trip to the dark side. I'm rawking a 5 string Bongo HH with a piezo. Fantastic bass ... playing more and more these days.

My introduction to MM started with a bass.

I was in a music store buying some dynaudio monitors and after some talk about home recording, I bought an OLP bass and a passive di petal. I still have it and it's great to have around not only for recording but impromptu jam sessions when I'm lucky to have some musicians in the house.

This led to me eventually getting an Axis in my hands and falling in love with the neck. So I converted from being a lifelong top of the line BC Rich and Jackson user to the MM family.

Cool story!

I'd never heard of EB Guitars until a bass player in an old band of mine introduced me to them.

Wind the clock forward 7 years and the bass player falls in love with my Albert Lee - he went out and bought one!!

Nahhh - I'd have to get loads more gear.

I got the Olympus E520. Always have been an Olympus man since owning an OM10.

Really wanted Canon - but the E520 was a snip on Ebuyer.- so I took the plunge - Jeez there's loads of stuff on it !!!! - bit more complex than my old SLR.

:) Thanks just can't wait to receive it. And I swear that it can be really fun to play bass, as fun as playing guitars :D

Well I have to say nice looking bass there beej.

But Mr Mushashi is right - I would have to go for a Big AL. (If I was to get an EB bass which at the mo I'm not )

Hee hee! - nice (similar) story MrP.
I'd better get practicing a bit more before I even contemplate a new bass:-
4 strings, AL shape, 3 pickups .... .... ... ... ..... .... ... ... .(dream on)
Maybe I'll get one when I retire in 6-10 years time. (now there's a frightening thought!!)

Tim, you appear to have broken that nice man's Bass. I hope you've offered to fix it for him, or you won't be allowed out to play again.

Looks like somebody took a pic after all.

Spud, are you all right, did they treat you well??? - you're safe now, the bass experience is over....

Seriously though, I have been looking at bongos I think it's the shape that interests me more than bass itself, but I see that you are not alone on the path to the thick stringers

You must fight (Unless you get a big al bass) and then you're off the hook!)

EDIT - NICE T-SHIRT - I know where that came from!!!!
