If the SR5 has even a hint of some of the fine quilt I have seen on the Axis, then I vote hands down for the SR5. Then begin saving for a LE Blue Dawn!
ive been a bit MIA cuz work's killing me so i dunno if i missed some 20th SR% details... BUT from what i do know of teh 20th silo, the 20th Ray and the 30th Ray then id go for the 20th SR5.
the examples of anniv models im familiar with are dope. something new and different topping off a classic: the 30th has Mahog, the 20th had quilt and the 20th Silo is genious w/ the tone block... and bluedawn, well, its just a color - a nice one - but still just a color.
so if the 20ths gonna have special goodness like the previous anniv models i think its an easy choice.
Exactly. Order a 20th Anniversary 5 in early Feb after the NAMM show with a deposit. Pay off the balance when it's done six months later in August.
Before the Blue Dawn disappears sometime in June-ish, put down a deposit, and finish paying it off in Dec-ish when it is due from the factory.
It's not like they are only available one day....
Seriously, I am going through the same dilemma. I want a Blue Dawn Bongo and a 6 string Bongo, but the timing probably won't work out. I'll get over it. Besides, I've got plenty of time to figure out how to sneak both into the house over the course of a year, so it's academic at this point.
I voted Blue Dawn because you can order exactly what you want - pretty much a custom order just for you.
And then if you absolutely decide you must have a 20th Anniv SR5, you may have to consider selling off your current beloved SR5. Obviously not a first choice, but an option.
Blue dawn. If your financial situation improves down the road, it'll be easier to find a used 20th SR5 than a used Blue Dawn HP Bongo. Look at how many used 30th SRs have been offered for sale recently.
Personally I prefer Blue Dawn with maple and you can't get that on a Bongo (or can you...? ). Never had a piezo myself so that's a thought though... Without knowing what the 20th is going to be, it's a tough call. No reason to decide now anyway - can't order either of them yet far as I know.
I voted 20th SR5 based purely on the hopes that it's as good as the 30th SR4. All I've really heard of so far is a mahogony "tone block" and alnico pickup, but I think that's all I need to hear. I want one.
Hopefully I can get one in time to build up enough cash to order an all-white Bongo 6. I need one of those in the worst way.
you re some social guy arent you? hey, dont ask on the forum which bass you shoud buy, especially if both are proven to be good, decide for your self. (by the way,go for stingr5....)
