Wow Dude, you're not even looking at the frets when you play. I;m impressed. Or is that just your promo pic?
If you are addressing Steve Dude Barr, I'm not sure what Image you mean [less than half the images on this board get thru our firewall, I don't see them].

But if you are addressing me, Golem, by the general friendly greeting of "Dude", in reference to my avatar photo, the simple answer is that even if I were to stare at the neck real hard and wear my best reading glasses, there would be no frets to look at. They were all removed.

There really isn't so I opt for the cheapest "Ho-bag" I can get my mitts on and do all sorts of twisted things to my Kramer Ferrington that I paid $75 for...the singlemost longest bass I've owned and with the most playing time on...

I saw a used Kramer acoustic bass the same shape as that but in a red sunburst in a UK shop and they were asking £600 ($1000+) for it. If it had been a lot closer to $75 I'd have bought it for a laugh but as it was I decided to pass.

Many thanks to all who have weighed in with your suggestions.

Golem - I really dig your response and am impressed with your knowledge. I'll google RT and see what they offer.

Dude - I like keeping with the clan and will check out some of your other lines.

Moderators - thanks for keeping this thread open. I realize it's not specific to Ernie Ball, and appreciate being able to tap into my brother Ball-O-Holics for their experience in the acoustic world.

I'll buy damtnear anything at $75 for a laugh. Heck, admission to a comedy club plus the requisite parking ticket, a couple shots and you're already over $75 and maybe not even had a good laugh.

Big +1 to the moddy, and heres a link:

That gets you to the RT section of the Dude Pit so you can head in any direction easily from there [looks like RT has been offline while dealing with NAMM].

Guild made some really nice ABG's for a while, until the accursed Fender bought them:mad:

Subway Guitars(fatdawg.com) can build you one. Look under the "Bass" section-the L-5 Mariachi bass should suit your needs.

Tacoma Thunderchief.
Great big +1 here! :D

And to Joe's point earlier - definitely try them out. After checking out one ABG here and one ABG there I got lucky at a GC that had about a half-dozen ABGs to choose from!

I had an opportunity to try them side-by-side. I was amazed at the difference in the levels of volume and projection between models. The Tacoma projects acoustically like no other.

No other currently in production, that is! ;)
