A friend dropped off their JP for some much-needed attention, and yesterday I started work on it. Of course the first thing I did was pop the neck off (I love doing that) and take a pic. The finish on this guitar was damaged and they wanted it refinished, so I heat gunned the paint right off. As soon as the humidity goes down, we will shoot it in a fresh coat of black, and then maybe have some fun with it. I'm thinking maybe pornstar pink blackburst?

Looks kinda cool right now, tho, don't it? :D

Ah cool, another guitar for Pete to repaint. Can't wait to see what color you'll choose. Molten gemstone was awesome :p

Pete, do you strip the pup routes and trem cavity too? Also, do you spray it yourself or farm that out?

Yes, if I didn't strip the pickup routes the pickups would sit too high/close to the strings. I found this out on the JP7.

I go buy the paint and put on a hazmat suit with a respirator and rotate the guitar on a stick while one of my best friends shoots it. I need a new water separator and a good paint gun before I can even think about shooting one myself. All in good time, the 'cuda needs to be painted by the end of July :)

6 Fingers?

Hey! That's no fair! Not only can he probably kick some ass on the guitar, but I'll bet the ladies love him too! Damn!
Pete, that guitar looks pretty cool stripped down like that. Can you post some more pics of the body (i.e. the back)?
Thanks,
-darchirnoj

Christmas on a guitar? I do have a few ideas for other off-brand carcasses we have here, might do one in road-cone hazard orange.

Here ya go, like the first pic, this is before the cavities were stripped. It's important to get the paint off the recessed areas so the top of the control cavity cover sits flush with the top surface of the body. Otherwise, if you play without clothes on like the guys in the bass forum do, it sticks out and scratches you.
