How, What...

I think it's fried because the EQ controls stopped working.
What happened was this:
I was playing around with my zoom b2 pedal and my 16 month old walked over and cranked the volume on my amp. There was a loud feedback noise and then the EQ stopped working. The battery was hot. Changed it, EQ, still didn't work. Checked the EQ on my amp with my other bass and it seems to be working fine. So I'm pretty sure it's the EQ on my StingRay.
Any suggestions?

I would call customer service. I've heard GREAT things, no doubt they will sort it out.

The only thing that I've ever fried before was my N64 when a lightening bolt went down the arial...sent me flying across the room. It worked after a about a week of just sitting not being used - have you tried just waiting?

Yeah i also thought that was pretty funny .. "Have you tried just waiting"?
The preamp circuit board either works or dosent work. Their are no thermal
resets on them. Sounds to me if the battery was hot, somethin shorted out.
I do like the real butter idea though!

I'd beg to differ....

No, really I know. I fried a Qtron too with a wrong power adaptor and it was well and truly annihilated. But that N64 story is true, me and my dad were playing goldeneye during a thunderstorm and BAM. Smoke out of the top of the console, a burning smell, both of us thrown across the room. And a few days later...it somehow worked.

So to conclude, there is always a chance.

Seems strange .... usually the preamp doesn't care how loud the amp is. Unless there is some sort of reverse power surge rule I don't know about. Have you checked the battery tabs inside the battery box to make sure they are making contact with the battery? You may have to pull them out (gently) with a small screwdriver. Sometimes they get pushed in too far as different 9 volt batteries coime in slightly different lengths. If that doesn't help, give me a call at 866-823-2255 (US/Canada) or email me at [email protected] ... we'll get you fixed up.
