I think I'm turning Bongo-nese

Ok - you all know I love my EBMM basses - and I have had quite a few. But last night at rehearsal I was alternating between my Sterling HS and my SR5-20th-HH, and whole time I was thinking "this doesn't sound as good as my Bongos".

Is something wrong with me? Am I becoming a one-type-of-bass guy?

Since getting my Bongo a few weeks ago, that's all I've been playing. I'm even considering ordering a Bongo 5 . I've really gotten into the MM sound but just think the Bongo has refined and updated that sound to a higher level. Seems contemporary and refined but not so far removed from the traditional MM sound that it can't be used for any style I'm playing. I think I have become a Bongoloid.

I've been grabbing the single H Bongo fiver more often lately. The Ampeg B15R and the Bongo H make a wonderful noise.

I get the same feeling EVERY TIME I try anything in the shops. It's like everything else got turned down or muffled - I have driven several shop employees totally gonzo with my theories of dead batteries, duff strings or busted amps: but it's really just being used to the Bongo sound.

You can "own" as many MM basses as you want, and that's certainly part of the fun, however, you can only play one bass at one time (I think).

If by chance you pick up the Bongo for that assignment, well, absolutely nothing wrong with that!

I also love my SR4 and 5 basses.

But I really miss my Bongo 5 HH. It was the best hard rock/metal bass I have ever owned. I will likely eventually buy a used Bongo 5 or wait for a new Bongo 6.

Not that a SR5 doesn't have "oomph", but a Bongo has "mucho oomph".
