Another solution if you have the room is buy a vault door. That's right, convert that spare bedroom into a safe.

Fireproofing will not save your basses BTW. The finish will likely peel and blister at the very least.

Hey Rob, with the humidification feature,
you could easily fit a couple boxes
of Cubans in there too!

I take it you mean cigars!!! ha ha ha ha.....

It could be very useful if you have some pre embargo sticks. I got into the humidified basement of JJ Fox in London - now thats a little slice of paradise (and expensive too)

I don't know, I understand your statement and agree that there will
be issues if the vault sits in or near a serious fire. There is a concern
for extreme heat but there are variables . . what type of fire (jet fuel,
wood, etc) duration, point of origin, severity, containment, response time . .
(I've always been a wannabe fireman)

That safe is 1200degrees/30 minute rated with fireproof/waterproof
gaskets. So, as long as the fire can be contained, vault exposure is
minimal, and the fire dept around the block can get here in a reasonable
amount of time, I think it's a worthwhile idea and the contents can be
salvagable.

I'd have to overcome the weight issue (get my entire neighborhood to
help me move it upstairs) and find an artist to remove the "G*bson"
logo and paint "MusicMan" on it.
