I own a Les Paul copy made 35 years ago by Pearl!!! It's made from alder. It isn't as heavy as a real Gibby, but still it isn't in a light weight section! It sounds great, and has this fat tone (it has original PU too  sweet). But after my EB JP arrived 2 weeks ago it is standing in the corner. I will never sell this guitar, cause it is bautiful, and you can really feel history under your fingertips while playing, but from now on it is my SECOND guitar.

It all depends on what you want to achieve, what kind of sound makes you smile:D. One thing is for sure - EB guitars are very easy and fun to play, and they kick a$$!!!

ROCK!!!

I owned a EPI LP and then traded it in on a LP Studio, never like the sound of either and sold the Studio to fund my 20th, while every player has their favorite guitars nothing rocks better than a Ball, and I agree that a Ball is the only guitar I would buy sight unseen and without playing, when I bought the 20th had never seen or played one:)

We're a Gibby dealer, a lot of people like them. I prefer Balls obviously, and for a lot of the same reasons my fellow forumites do. The build quality on a Ball is simply perfect. Other "big names" aren't. We have to send a lot of G's and E's back. I figure they require such a huge buy in and such astronomical prices they better be perfect.

We picked up the other "Big Name" and had a huge shipment come in last week. I am slowly going through all the basses once again to make sure they are perfect. What irritates the daylights out of me is on the USA basses the frickin necks have to be removed to adjust the trussrod. Such an assenine design that should have been allowed to die. Needless to say, every last one of the basses needs major adjustments. There is about fourteen of them. Crazy that the guy who started that company was instrumental in designing the Stingray bass which is by far a superior design.

Every ball we get blows me away. I want to buy them all. Retail being what it is right now with big boxes trying to take over the world, I can't.

One story that simply boggles my mind. We had a customer come in and want a guitar by one of the two brands mentioned above. Come to find out the company was offering a 4th quarter special they didn't feel the need to tell us about. The customer mentioned he could get it online for almost $400 less than my sticker price  WTF?? Well I investigated and it was legit and I was pissed needless to say. So, I tried to steer him to a Silo HSH that was roughly the same price.

"I like the way it feels better, I like the weight better, I like the sound better, I like the neck better, but it doesn't say "Brand X" so I don't want it". Poetic justice, it got stolen some months later.

Some people never learn, and think they have to have that name because it somehow validates them as a person. I prefer my Balls!!! After playing everything else and nothing else did what I wanted and for the money everything else was very underwhelming.

BALLS ARE BEST!! And the customer service is beyond compare. Way to go BP!

I wouldn't worry mate a lot of people are idiotic sheep when it comes to guitars.

Its like I took my new Supersport out the other night to guitar club type thing that I help out whenever I can be bothered and mainly because no-one knew the name they thought I was kidding them on when I said they make the best guitars you can buy hehe.

Hehe.......my cousin is going out of the country for a few weeks so he asked me to take care of his Gibby LP Goldtop, his Gibby SG, his marshall jcm 2000 tube, and his little crate tube.......
Last night, I played the lp, the sg, my melody maker, and my new 20th silo through the crate tube amp........
my wife just laughed..........she said not only did the 20th look a lot nicer, but that it sounded a lot better (both clear and with balls) than all of the other guitars.
I couldn't agree more.
GET A 20TH IF YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys... Just had a good read thru this thread. Yeah I'm mad keen on EB guitars too but did want a 24' set neck LP style guitar. I did actually audition a whole bunch of them but for the money (over 5k AUS) you really are getting ripped off. To use an Aussie phrase "...It's bloody daylight robbery..."

I ended up getting a top of the line Maton Mastersound guitar.
They're an Aussie brand. Check em out on the web. They make primarily acoustics but their electric range is LP inspired and you get a whole lot better build qulaity and features for your money.
Just my $0.02...

Bill
