... because a SR5 followed me home.

I will probably get hit by a frying pan if it's found before I can sell off something to compensate (i.e. pay the credit card bill).

Used, 2001 production, Blue Pearl with Rosewood (same as my 2001 Sterling, natch), OHSC.

Pray for me.

Nice going, Ken! Any SR5 with a rosewood board sounds good to me.

Even ugly yeller ones, heh heh.

Let me know if you need someplace to hide it for a while.

Jack, do you have Heinz again? I figured he was long gone, what with your advanced case of Bongo lust.

This thing is sweet! I really like the White Pearl PG on my Pearl Blue/Rosewood Sterling, but I'm afraid it may look a little too ghetto with that big old SR5 PG.

I'm concerned about what flats to run on the thing - my preferred Fender 9050Ms don't come as a five string set, or in singles heavy enough for a B. Maybe I'll try a set of EB Group I flats and a .130 B.

I was wrong - I think this thing may be a 2000 model, per the data site. No matter.

Heinz came home a short while back, and he's unpacked his bags and has his own bathroom and has hung some art, so he's staying.

Full story and photos here.

And moto guards look great on SR5s!

You're right! He *does* look good in white pearl! I'll have to give the factory a call today and price out a real EBMM pickguard.

Jack, you're still playing with flats, right? Any comments on my quandry?

You know me. When in doubt, string it with TI Flats. Are those not your cup of tea? I can't remember.....

I also like the LaBella Deep Talking Flats a lot. More tension than the TIs but not exactly in the league of, say, Rotos. (Which I detest.) Still very musical but loads of thump and enough resistance to make you feel like a real man!

Congrats on the new bass. I hope you "get away" with it. I sometimes find myself in the same position.

I have a Pearl Blue/Rosewood SR5 that I'm changing the white pickup for a black one and putting a tort guard on it. I should have it done this week and will post some pics. How about some pics of yours if you can sneak some?

That can be a new curreny:
* What did you pay for your SR5?
* Three frying pan hits!

I'd gladly accept a few for a start :D

Congratulations.

Congratulations on your new SR5!!!

Hang in there...I know the anxiety associated with purchasing a new instrument that you really shouldn't have...and then having to sneak around in the middle of the night to pull it out its case to just feel it for a few moments...all the while looking over your shoulder, hoping to not get caught. It's not easy man...Good Luck!

The white PU is my only complaint about this thing - I may try doing a trade like you did. I'm thinking it would look killer with an Abalone PG - just not with a white PU!

I have a Abalone PG at home for my Blue Pearl Sterling which I've never left on - I'm keeping it for a future maple boarded Sterling.

Tip:
Also type in (or bookmark) "music man bass". Depends on how the seller spells it whether you will see their bass. In fact I almost didn't see my GrapeRay because the seller misspelled it "Musiman". Fortunately for me someone else spotted it and let me know about the auction. ;)

I also go to the home page and pick the "musical instruments" category followed by the "bass guitar" category. The I will just search under "stingray", "stingary 5, sting ray 5, bongo etc.. That usually finds most of the basses I'm looking for.

Hmm..... I never thought about searching for "stingary 5" :p Well that precisely illustrates the point!

Uh-oh - I just found out that the trade I was working on is a tentative go. Two new EBMM basses in one week! wOOt! I'm turning into a bass whore like Jack!

Seriously, I've wanted a maple necked Sterling to add to the stable for a few years now. The only problem with this one is... it's Pearl Blue, just like my other two EBMM basses! Aaagh! Well, the abalone PG will tart it up a bit...

I do love those Sterlings, although I'll miss my Steinberger.
