It is nice to hear about GC's commiting to the EBMM line - on a side note I was just in the local GC - Cincinnati - and the Bongo they had in was dirt cheap (black on black - no case) - but I also noticed something about the store - it sucked. It wasn't that EBMM wasn't represented well (which it wasn't) it was just that it was overcrowded, dirty, the displays were aweful, and the sales people were clueless.

I have said some pretty good things about GC in the past (check some of my prior posts) but over the past 2 months it has gone noticiably downhill. The store in Columbus is the same - it has always been bad but it has gotten much worse too. Just an observation.

aside from my grumbling about GC. I have had several good experiences at the Atlanta GC.
I have a good relationship with one of the managers at that store. He let me spend an hour past closing time.. letting me decide which SR5 I was going to take home. I have to admit, they will give the best deal... even if you have to hagle about the cases for Bongos.

As I said, I generally have had good things to say about my local GC. The old staff (and some of the new guys) have always treated me VERY well. My past 2 rigs were both purchased from there and I got an awesome deal. I have also bought a couple of basses from them (which have since been replaced by Bongos). The Bongo that my local has now is tagged pretty low and I know they would go even lower - if I didn't have to Bongo 4's I would seriously look at this one. When my wife and I walked over to it she looked at the tag and then hit me... hard! "You paid how much for yours???" I explained what was happening and go the "oh" look (my right shoulder is still bruised though).

I think my problem with GC, is just the upkeep of the store. It has gone downhill and part of that is a local thing, but couple that with what I have seen in Columbus, and what I have heard about other stores too and I wonder if it is becoming symptomatic of something else. Like all stores there are good and bad everywhere, I just wonder if a trend is starting.
