Review: Ernie Ball/Music Man Majesty Guitar

I was wondering, do guitar companies send guitars to review sites like GW for free or do the sites buy the guitars in the store when they want to review one?

I hope this is not a secret... ;) but I am curious. Anyone know?

My only experience of this was when a guitar mag in the UK did a review of an Albert Lee. It appeared on the front cover of their magazine and they used the same picture as posters at a guitar exhibition (I think) at the Excel in London.
The guitar was supplied by Strings n Things for the review and is now owned by a guy on the Forum (Smellybum).
I got Albert Lee to sign the magazine for Smelly, and he has the poster too.

So in that instance the mag had the guitar on loan.

Ah ha! So there is a 3rd option... a loan. That sounds like what probably happens. Hmm, interesting!

There are rumours that a certain, well-known german guitar magazine won't do any reviews if they don't get the equipment for free.
