Hi all.

I love my 1978 StingRay, but I was looking for a fretless brother.
Sunday night I won the auction and yesterday I got the Stingray Fretless 1994 (s/n 43373) in my hands.

Immediately pictured for you.

Isn't it a perfect pair?

:D

Now I've got everything I need!

Bye.

Putting a red pickguard on the black ray would be an interesting experiment in opposites. Sort of a yin-yang thing.

...intresting! Our concert opener is called Yin & Yang and feautures a fretless solo in the middle section.

Unfortunately replacement PGs are almost impossible to find here.

---------

I had my first rehearsal with the band last night: wonderful fretless sound.

Those are the only two Stingrays I've ever used.

16 years difference between the two models: the EB is a lightweight compared to my pre-eb.
The PU plastic cover is different in material. The neck of the EB is much thinner. The bass EQ has a different influence in the sound.

Quality difference: the neckplate screws on the eb are edgy, so if you lay it down on a table for string replacement it scratches the table!
The pole pieces of the PU do not perfectly fit the PU plastic cover, they're about 3/4 of mm smaller in diameter that the hole.

Again: a wonderful piece of music gear, excellent woods, excellent painting, excellent materials: thumbs up for the EB staff!

That black on black looks hot. Great flame on the neck too.

Hi Proghead.....great bass !!

I'm curious to know if there is a difference in sound between the 2EQ pre-EB and EB 'ray.

You mention a difference. What exactly is it ?

The pre-eb bass booster doesn't influence the overall volume (loudness perception), the eb gives me the feeling of a slight volume increase.

Warning: this is a one night impression, in a few weeks I can tell you more! This can also depend on different string gauge of PU height. On the red one it took me years to get to the perfect combination.
