As you might know, i am a huge fan of the sterling line and in particular the ax40d, the colors availible are great, especially the cherry burst, but i think we, (speaking for alot of other ax40 owners and fans) would love to see a, green quilt, and proper pink, and i would love a natural as well, and i think alot of us would pay an extra $50 for a real maple cap? Just throwing some ideas around, would like to hear if anyone else feels me.

I am 100% opposite. I would like to see some solid colors offered. I am a bit bummed that the only option available on all the Sterling Axis guitars are flamey/fancy tops. I would like to see the 30D available in something less flashy.

I agree, tribute colors! Would be great, and a real maple cap, the veneer looks awesome though to naked eye, but the real cap would brighten it up a bit, although they sound and play insane, my favorite guitar I own( until someday I own an ebmm).

what do you mean about real cap maple? I though the sterling is using real maple and no photo at least on the AX40D, AX3 is a photo if memories serve me well.

The ax40 does use real maple for the top, however its only about 1 16th of an inch veneer of maple, not like the 1/4" thick maple cap that is on the axis.

Yes, the SBMM line does use a real maple cap, it's just a thinner veneer and don't think it has as much affect in tone vs an Axis. More of a cosmetic touch. The SUB Series have photo top.

I really think the same thickness maple cap as the usa would be the best, along with tribute colors. Thats a winning combo.
