I have gotten the impression that I'll probably not find a JP7 in a store. Any of you JP7 owners bought one off the rack? I imagine that most of you ordered them. Right? I've never seen one in a store, but I've seen them listed as in stock in stores every now and then.

That just kind of scares me. I want to try any guitar I buy before I buy it. I mean...they're all different.

Raz bought his off the rack... I know that once he wakes up and sees this he'll come in and tell you to get all Nike about buying this guitar ('Just Do It!'), but I'll just say that even though I don't have a JP7, and though your assertion that "they're all different" is true enough, if ever there was a guitar maker I'd feel comfortable buying a guitar from sight unseen, it's Ernie Ball Music Man. Their quality control and consistency from instrument to instrument is the equal of most boutique makers, and their commitment to customer service and satisfaction is absolutely second to none... So if you think the JP7 is the guitar for you, take the plunge - you almost certainly won't regret it...

Unfortunately, I'm still scared about the differences from guitar to guitar. My friend has a JP6, which I would never have bought, because it just doesn't feel right. I bought mine, because it felt great. Granted, most of the few JPs I'd tried felt good. Only mine felt perfect for me. Oh well...I guess I'll just have to find a JP7 somewhere and try it. Unfortunately, I'm in Detroit, and Pete's store is a little far from home.

Hmmm...maybe, if I visit my mom in CA, I can go check out Wild West Guitars, who seem to have two JP7s (one in Buttercream!). Man, I sort of wish I didn't know that guitar existed. One more to add to the wishlist:

(not in any order)
1. Would love a 7 fully loaded in any of my favorite colors (if it feels right, I'd take it in any color).
2. Fully loaded 6 in Mystic Dream
3. Fully loaded 6 in Egyptian Smoke
I guess those would be the top 3. I'd love to have many more, especially limited edition colors. Of course, $$$$.$$ is the limiting factor. Damn GAS! :(

I ordered my JP7 LE Buttercream from www.indoorstorm.com, via a phone call. Nice sales staff. They stock LE's as well as other cool colors. I believe they offer a grace period to try the guitar out. Mine was perfect and a keeper. Good luck in your search.
