I sold a Blue Dawn Super Sport last year becuase I thought I just had to have a PRS Singlecut when the lawsuit business was getting rolling. A store near me had a couple and I called the guy and told him to put this one aside for me. I posted my BD Axis and Lew jumped on it so quick it wasn't funny. A couple of days later, I went to the shop, money in hand and played the guitar. What a mistake. I should have played it *first*. Lesson learned the hard way. I told him he could put it back up on the rack, I couldn't stand the neck and I wasn't going to pay $2700 for something that might be worth a couple more dollars a few years down the road.

A hard lesson to have to learn - I think the big thing is NEVER PART WITH A GOOD ONE! whatever the make, model etc. I've said before I would not trade my EVH for pretty much anything, not even a top of the line PRS, which I love as well. I prefer to add to, rather than substitute my guitars. Hope you get many more good guitars and hang on to em this time :)

Live and learn... Nothing beats a Music Man neck, and that chunk of wood hanging off the end is pretty nice too...

Cheers Lew, I haven't seen you around much lately, I hope you're still enjoying it.

Hi Fred and all!

I still have a look here now and then, but found forums were eating into my time to much...

The BD A.S.S is still doing it for me... I was looking at buying a P.R.S actually but decided on a nice piece of furniture instead (minus birds) :p

With the exception of a good single coil guitar(thinking suhr atm) i havent found a better guitar for me,they put this one together right.
still cant figure why you sold this Fred, Blue dawn matching stock! :D

Speak soon

I just explain it the way I always do, momentary lapse of reason. I feel better having picked up the BD Silo though, and that new Y2D will go a long way towards making me feel even better. :D

Honestly, I'm glad someone got it who does appreciate it though. My loss = your gain.

The BD Silo is one of those "magical" guitars. I always thought my Petrucci was untouchable, but if I had to choose, the Silo would stay. I still love the Petrucci, but after playing the Silo, it just doesn't "feel" right. I can't explain it any better than that.

Nice to hear from ya Lew.

I traded my Les Paul Deluxe reissue for this:

It was a do or die deal - I had one chance, and if I let it slip, I knew I'd never see this Axis again. I had no cash (we'd just bought a car the day before) and my wife was in one of her less-than-sympathetic-to-the-acquisition-of-yet-another-guitar moods... ;) I knew that on a $$ value basis I was probably getting reamed for $400, but after playing the Axis plugged in, I knew a trade was the thing to do! This Axis is the best in my collection - the best I've ever played, period - and I honestly wouldn't sell it if you walked up to me and offered me $4,000 for it... It's magic!

Nah buddy.....Jon is soooo much closer! LOL

JimiD, very nice axe and I can at least see why you wouldn't get rid of it. Like my Pets, I love them all, but the Rad Red is just "different". But, that may change after Jon finishes up my Pearl Redburst........did I say may? I'm sure it will be my favorite of the stable.

Jimi D - nice guitar - I love when you say you wouldn't part with it for 4 grand - if it is a magic one, hold onto it for grim death. They are not that easy to replace. I've always said my EVH will be buried with me - no-one else waited 8 1/2 agonizing months for it so no-one else deserves to have it :)

Alright, so how about 4,001??? :D Magic must have a price. ;)

Seriously Jimi, that is one sweet guitar, I especially like it because of the rosewood 'board.

Depends on the PRS. I actually like PRS guitars very much. I think they make a nice complement to an Axis or JP or SS or AL in the mix (who only records one guitar track anyway?).

I think the guitars are too disimilar to make a valid "would you trade" question. Now, "would you trade your Les Paul Standard for a PRS Custom 22 or Singlecut?", I think is a better question. The guitars are similar enough that many people would seriously consider trading.

Plus, how many people on this forum are going to say "yes, I'd trade my EBMM"? Not many!

Don't get me wrong, I've got Axis and a JP. The Axis is magic. The JP's neck and body profile are magic. Just need to get the right pickups in that thing.........

Well, I can agree to a point. I have tried many many PRS guitars, while they are nice to look at and sound incredible, the "feel" made me put it back on the wall. Price is no option really for me. I would not trade because of my past experience. I know quite a few dudes who have a PRS and they are great sounding instruments. Just not for me.......not even a trade.

Well, I like very much my PRS's, currently 3 a standard soapbar mccarty a used mccarty that is an outstanding guitar and a custom 22 soapbar, I had another that was a custom 22 with all the options (hollowbody interior, mccarty electronics, cherry color, 10 top, birds, gold hardware) I liked but has some stability tuning on the neck so I traded at GC for a used beautiful axis with a geat and beatuiful birdseye and flame neck (now one of my mains guitars) plus $ enough to finance later a used Petrucci too in mistyque.... so yes I would trade a PRS for a EBMM and for now I would not trade any of my EBMM guitar for a PRS... :D

Been there, done that.

I traded a Natural Flame Top Axis plus $200 for a 1994 PRS Custom 23 in Blue. I guess I was caught up in the hype about PRS. Anyway, it took me about two months to figure out that I just could not get used to the damn thing. I play alot of open chords, and about halfway through the second set, my hand started to hurt.

I will, however, admit that PRS does make a very nice sounding guitar. It has an incredible amount of tonal versitility. I had the HFS pickup in mine, and thought it was a great bridge pickup. The problem is that it is just an uncomfortable guitar for me to play.

Finally, I had enough and traded the PRS even up for a Trans-Purple quilt-top Axis at GC in Chicago. I didn't even care about the $200 loss. I just had to have an Axis again. The Purple one now adorns the wall of Flores Music in Peoria, IL., because I traded it for the most beautiful Quilt-Top Cherry-Burst Axis I had ever seen in person.

I will not make the mistake of straying again. When you consider the level of quality of EBMM is equal to if not better than PRS, you have to ask yourself, "Do I really need to pay 2 to 3 times as much for a PRS?"

A guy working in our local music shop offered to trade me 2 PRS's for my EVH. Can't remember the PRS model's, but I said no without even trying them out. My EVH is with me for life......
