What would your signature guitar be like? I hope this isn't breaking any rules, but I think it would be VERY interesting to hear what some of you imagine as the perfect axe

This may be a cop-out but my perfect axe is a JP. No other guitar I've owned has felt as comfortable. I don't mean that as a slag against my Morse cuz I love it too but when I play the JP, its like coming home.

Well for me it is the Luke, but I am a big EMG fan, but by Friday afternoon it could be my 20th Silo, but maybe a combo 4 pups 2 emg 2 non active 7 way switch tons of tone combos ( and dont tell me you cant have both been there done it! well not sure about the 7 way switch but have put active and non active in the same guitar:D ) with vintage trim and oh yea Dargie Delite as the color:)

Sub no offense but you need to dump the others ( and you know what I mean) and become one with the balls!
Now rid of the Strat,Les Paul and two more to go, then my third Ball. Any Guesses?

I'll go ahead with mine;

some sort of strat or superstrat body, mahogany with no pickguard

24 fret maple or rosewood fretboard (optional)

the floating trem from the JP

seymour duncan JB in the bridge, the sub1 neck pickup in the middle in single coil form, and seymour duncan jazz in single coil form in the neck

small dot inlays

flush mounted locking strap pegs

and as for colors, lots of bright stuff... white, orange, lime green, that blue color from the old boss mustangs, sparkle finishes, etc.

Ok fine... that's basically a JP with a few little differences :p

Okay here it goes:

Body: Silo Special with 20th Package (Alder, Quilt Maple Top, Mahogany Tone Block Rear Mounted electronics no pic guard) Smaller body Heel like on JP.

Neck: Same as 20th Silo with 12" Radius

Electronics: 2 Direct Mounted Humbuckers, 5 position Switch, Fixed Bridge with Piezo, and JP Type trem with Piezo. Toggle Switch for Piezo On Horn Like JP.

EBMM is the only company that has all the feature that I would ever want in a guitar. Unfortunately they are not all in one guitar, but that is okay, while I become rich and famous I will just have to keep buying more Balls.

I day dream lots can you tell!

Mine would probably be something like this:

Standard JP7 shape, but with an alder body with mahogany tone block and a maple top - basically a JP/Silo 20th hybrid. The body would be painted painted in a solid vivid green metallic (a more toxic Dargie...), hence, the maple is only there for the tone. Zebra DiMarzio Blaze Neck in the bridge position and a zebra PAF7 in the neck wired to a 3-way lever switch, with both switch, volume and tone in the standard Silhouette position - wired just like the standard JP, BTW... Oh, and the knobs and switch tip would be standard creme coloured Str@t stuff.

Neck would be a slightly deeper JP7, but with a scalloped, sick birdseye maple neck and board, standard black EBMM dots and a non-matching headstock. Frets would be stainless steel 6100.

Bridge... Well, the JP7 trem obviously - but with the Hipshot Tremsetter fitted as well, and I'll keep the standard Schaller tuners. Almost forgot: all metallic bits would be chrome (or platinum ;) ).

I think this guitar would turn a few heads - I know it would make me one happy camper!

Cheers

Eske

P.s.: look at my avatar to get a rough idea of the colour scheme...

A carved top Axis!!!
Just for the fun, it could be with 2 DiMarzio "a la" Silo Sp single coil in the neck and middle, and the regular HB in the bridge, all with a small 5-way switch. Also a JP trem, just to make it different. One volume knob. Quilted top, translucent white and a zillions-birdeyes neck with rosewood FB. No matching headstock.

My ideal guitar would be:

  • compact
  • ergonomic
  • HSS configuration
  • 10" radius neck
  • 4+2 locking tuners
Sounds a little like a Silo Special .

Custom touches:

  • aged yellowed white finish, pup covers, knobs and trem tip
  • mint pick guard
  • yin/yang fret markers
  • tiger striped maple neck

That's easy for me too:
JP shaped Body
Axis neck but w/jumbo frets
NO dots or inlay of any kind
Pickups: EVH in Bridge / Humbucker From Hell in Neck
Floating Floyd
3-way pickup selector
Comes with a banana
Various Colors, etc.

In fact, my only beef with the JP is the neck radius. I GREATLY prefer the Axis radius. That's a good point "music man" said above, most of us are just taking different aspects from various MM guitars. I'm not borrowing any ideas from other brands. hmm . ..

I hope Luke replies to this thread!!:D

Me?...

JP6
Maple top (all quilt baby!)
Caramel Burst (See Seranade Of Metal's pic above)
Dot inlays
Original JP Pickups
Coil taps on both pickups for more single coil sounds (push/pull knob)
No piezo (It's fun at home but gets in the way at gigs)
Strap locks that don't twist round when you take your guitar off
Auto-play function for the difficult bits

oh and one of Beth's hamburgers fitted too please!!:D

ROCK ON!!!
