If I were a rich man? And could have my 'dream' outside of the guitars I hold near-and-dear already?
Wish list:

  • Chambered mahogany body w/ hand-carved spalted maple ( or is that splatted? ) using the Axis shape.
  • Maple neck with a nice Brazilian rosewood board. MOP inlays. MOP signature on head-stock - 27
  • Single coil p/u in bridge position with a humbucker in neck position.
  • Vintage trem w/locking tuners.
  • Color? A cross between honey-burst and a vintage amber.
Just my thoughts:D

I think my dream guitar would be very much like a JP7 BFR (quilt with walnut burst), only with all chrome hardware, no fretboard inlays, maybe an ebony or maple board. I'd probably reposition the controls... i've noticed that i have a tendency to accidentally knock either of the toggle switches during more aggressive live performances.

I would go with a Basswood AL shape
vintage blond w/ tortoise Pg. hardtail w/
Piezo, duncan-jazz in the neck, jb bridge.
Oh and a reverse headstock!!

Thats what I dream about at night.

A gold top AL sprayed in nitro celly - cracked and crazed!

I'd have 3 double coil pickups that you could split to sound like the current SSS pickups. MM trem, with a D tuner machine head. Piezo.

A V carve into the neck.

That's all!!

For me it's the jp proto used on Score DVD but /w splitable humbuckers to have single coil tone without the buzzzzz and maybe an angled single coil in the middle as the Steve Morse one. And the same possibility of the pull/push option on the BFR F-1.

What a dream...

24 fret/maple/maple neck
15 radius, and slightly thinner axis neck
axis body style, but with elbow cut
trans quilt top (black), cream binding and accents
floyd
pickups to my spec (similar to the existing ones though for the most part)

Who knows? Maybe, I can't have one guitar to do everything I want, which is basically $trat sounds and JP sounds. It would have to start from JP body and neck shape. Maybe, it could be hard tail, HSS, or HSH. I'd have to do some prototyping. I have no idea if the back rout on the JP will be incompatible with the $trat sounds I want. I don't know if the front rout on a Silo or Silo Spec would be incompatible with the JP-type sounds I want.

Pretty much the same for me.

I want a Petrucci 6-string just ike I have, except I want a stop tail piece - no bar. But I still want the piezo. Oh yeah, configured to handle Eb tuning with 10s! :)

I'm easy to please! Anything like this exist already?

Just block the existing trem and you have your wish...

I'd have to go with a JP7 with a ridiculous quilt maple top, stained Transparent Black with EMG's, Ebony fretboard, dot inlays that are slightly larger than usual and light up red, full body white binding, chrome hardware, chrome headstock decal. Stock JP trem.

I'd have 2:

First, this one with no trem:

BFRMahogAL.jpg

And second, would be:

1. AL
2. Basswood body, spalted maple top (with matching headstock).
3. Floyd Rose
4. Axis pickups and controls.

That's all. :)

Yeah - I am digging the AL I have right now that much. Amazing guitar. And - it's ridiculously comfortable to play. Ridiculously!

I knew I forgot something on my guitar.... a quilted maple top! I think a translucent blue would work well for me! :)

Well, I don't know if it would be my "dream" guitar per se, but just for something different I think it would be cool to see -

*Mahogany Albert Lee w/ 3 mini-HBs, maybe w/ a tune-o-matic style bridge

*Axis Super Sport w/ either a Mini HB or a PAF in the neck position, APS II middle, and a tele-style bridge PU (with big baseplate) and tele-style brass saddles but in a more ergonomic bridge (not so ashtray-like), also chambered ash or mahogany body (no f-hole, please!) w/ maple or spruce cap

Definitely like your thinking on the Axis Super Sport:D
especially chambered body with maple or spruce cap - yummy!
+1 for good taste
