Why Silhouettes aren't more popular. I'm not complaining, mind you, it's just that they're such wonderful guitars. Mine is the best guitar I've ever owned, by far. I've had PRS's, Fenders, Gibsons, you name it. I like the Petruccis, which is probably the closest thing to a Silo, but to me, my Silo is the perfect guitar for me. The perfect design of a Super-strat.
The reason I bring this up is that I had to sell mine to a music store. It was a financial emergency. They tagged it at 900. It didn't sell. Then they kept on lowering the price until it got to $650! Which is what I paid for it all those years ago. This is a '95, HSH, with stock Floyd, and rosewood board. Pretty rare, as far as I can tell. I knew if this got away, I'd never find another like it again. So I talked a friend into buying it, and holding it until I can afford to buy it from him. Whew! It was a beautiful gesture by a dear friend. I owned it about 14 years, and it was always my baby.
I'm grateful that I got it back, but shocked, luckily, at how many people don't realize how truly beautiful instruments these really are. I think I compare them to G&L, in that only those "In the Know" know how valuable they are. I'm grateful to be one of those people. :)

Let me put it to you this way. There are a LOT of closed minded guitarists out there. I'll use cars as an example. Some closed minded car guys only like Ford and only recognize that Chevrolet exists beyond Ford. And they only want a Ford Mustang. And why in the world would they ever want to try anything else.....after all, it was good enough for Henry Ford back in the early 1900's, so it must be the best.

Insert your favorite guitar related words in the explanation.

Awesome guitars for sure, I owned a Dargie II HSH for a while, but I felt the body was too small for me, that was my only complaint...well after I swapped the pickups out.

I must admit I always overlooked the silo in favour of the Axis and JP but I was blown away when I got my first silo earlier this year. An incredible versatile axe. Having said that I tend to play nothing but my AL's recently!

I recently played one at a guitar shop and was blown away.. I had a feel for it already cause I do own a "SBMM silo30" and I live that guitar.. But I think after my "AL HH" is done and my next order will be a "Silhouette" .. The guitar is amazing and versatile.. As is all of the EBMM and SBMM axes I've ever laid my hands on.. I find myself playing a whole lot better and efficiently for some reason when I use these guitar.. But yes, a "Silhouette" with a piezo option sounds pretty darn nice.
