This Friday, I'm shipping my 1999 Sterling off to Italy to its new owner. The Sterling thats been my trusty companion since before my kids were born. Its been through three different bands and has tons of gig and practice mojo, but is still a beauty for its age. Haven't packed it yet, I'll do that tomorrow, but the new guy is probably going to be cleaning my tears off the paint before he plays it. I'm not a person to get overly sentimental about material stuff, but this bass was my most prized "thing" for a long time now. So, off goes the Sterling that replaced my 1996 transparent teal 3 band Stingray, that replaced my '93 black on black 2 band Stingray that I bussed tables all summer to pay for my senior year of high school.
The next few weeks that I have to sit and wait on my new 2010 Powder Blue Stingray Classic are gonna be torture. But, the deposit was paid today so just a matter of time. hopefully I get a really great flame neck! Looking forward to the next 20 years with the new Music Man.
