This Friday, I'm shipping my 1999 Sterling off to Italy to its new owner. The Sterling thats been my trusty companion since before my kids were born. Its been through three different bands and has tons of gig and practice mojo, but is still a beauty for its age. Haven't packed it yet, I'll do that tomorrow, but the new guy is probably going to be cleaning my tears off the paint before he plays it. I'm not a person to get overly sentimental about material stuff, but this bass was my most prized "thing" for a long time now. So, off goes the Sterling that replaced my 1996 transparent teal 3 band Stingray, that replaced my '93 black on black 2 band Stingray that I bussed tables all summer to pay for my senior year of high school. :(

The next few weeks that I have to sit and wait on my new 2010 Powder Blue Stingray Classic are gonna be torture. But, the deposit was paid today so just a matter of time. hopefully I get a really great flame neck! Looking forward to the next 20 years with the new Music Man.

I hear you! I sold two Rays to fund my new EBMM basses that Im waiting on. I dont mind the wait one bit, as I know they will get them right.

It is weird not having a Ray/EBMM bass though. I really miss them. Sounds silly doesnt it.

One of them was sentimental; when I finished college I paid off half of it then paid off the rest interest free over 6 months with my first 'proper' job. It was Natural/Maple/3EQ - approx 1998/99. I sold it completely mint bar a very tiny bit of chrome tarnish.

Do I regret selling them? Well I know Im lucky to get new EBMMs, so I try not to regret it. The Natural Ray I DO miss though...it was my first high end bass and it sounded and felt amazing.

Now im mulling over a new normal 3EQ 4 String Ray. This time in White as its my all time favourite colour along with sunburst.

Im 95% ready to order hahah!

I feel your pain. Last week I sold "Whitey", my amazing SR5-H in order to fund my purchase of my Big Al 5-H. Unfortunately, my BA5 won't be here for 4 to 5 months, so until it arrives I'm stuck using my backup (I won't mention the brand) bass.

Right now I too am Music Man less, and I don't like the feeling. But some pain for long term gain is worth it. The Big Al 5-H will make me a happy camper again once it arrives.

PS - Guess I have to change my signature line by removing the word "Exclusively" from it.
