I'm confused

ok, so I'm really confused, i used to want an axis very bad, i like the way they kinda look, groovy, and somewhat "mean" look..
but lately, i think a SILO S would just suit me as fine, plus it has better upper fret access..

never tried a SILO Special, how does the neck&tone compare to Axis?

very similar I think..... I have an Axis that I'm very glad I kept.... great guitars for rock music... I gigged with mine last night.... alls good....

Probably your best bet would be to get an axis and a silo...then, you would have everything you need....well, except maybe an AL....and a Y2D....then....there's the JP or the Luke to think about...oh, and you would probably need a nice sterling bass to record with....

I've only had a HSS Axis Sport, but as I understand, it uses the same humbucker and Axis shape neck.

To me the necks feel quite different, the Axis having an asymmetrical shape and the Silo having a perfect C shape. No way to say which is better, only what works better for you. I prefer the Silo shape and feel. Sound wise, I think it's safe to say the Axis will lend itself to rock, modern rock, metal more readily than the Silo Special would. That's not to say the Silo can't rock. The Silo Special will get closer to the Strat side of things.

I have both and have no trouble accessing upper frets with the Axis. Both are killer guitars!!!!

The Silo is probably one of the most versatile guitars I've ever played. THe HSS config can get just about every possible sound you can think of, and musically it can cover a wide range of styles. The neck is more of a classic C-shape that you'd find on a strat, but for some reason, it's better than any strat neck I've played on.

the ASS (Super Sport) is pretty versatile in its own right. The 5-way switching yields a few more tones than its FLoyded brother (regular Axis). Positions 2 and 4 can get some good single coil sounds. The neck, to me, plays like it's broken in. Like a comfortable pair of shoes. Compared to the Silo neck, it's a little thinner near the nut, and a little thicker near the neck pocket.

Both have exceptional access to the upper frets. The Silo may have a slight edge, but only because the lower horn angle is more severe. Also, the silo is really comfortable on your picking hand. The forearm contour makes it fit perfectly.

To my ear, the humbuckers are very close. The Axis HB might have a little more low-to-midrange bite and more growl, but both can land a good classic humbucker tone. EBMM does a great job putting the right pickups with the right guitar.
