I used to get excited after NAMM, but with my current job situation I can't participate in the usual fun. I live pretty far from any well stocked EBMM dealer so that helps qwell my desire some I guess. However I feel like I'm on the outside looking in, and wonder if there are others who feel the same, and how do you cope?
I have been wanting either a 25th SSS, or the new SR5 classic, and am thinking about staying away from this forum until things get better financially.

Any thoughts?

I have only one musicman instrument at the moment. My current financial situation prevents me from even thinking about buying one anytime soon. I pretty much enjoy what I have, and enjoy the humor and pictures of new instruments on this forum. It's called self control.

No disrespect, J, and I know where you're coming from, but "cope", really? Maybe whenever you're finding it difficult to cope with not having more basses right now, reflect on the fact that somewhere between 20,000 to 30,000 people die of starvation every day, meaning approximately 1 every 3.5 seconds. Not to be dramatic or preachy, but know what I'm sayin? Believe me, I can relate, and this isn't a criticism. It helps me, personally. While buying/having as many as you can afford is GREAT, if that means 1 or 2 for some of us, for some amount of time, it's far less than a tragedy, IMHO. Stepping down from the soap box now.

OK No more staving examples of extending a feeling that he has...I think it may be very common....You dont have to buy instruments to be popular here.................

But it helps! Just a little humor to lighten the load

Keep contributing and all of that other stuff is in your head

Nah!!! This forum wouldn't be the same without you. Get a lift to London and you can borrow my 25th for a month, I'll even pretend it's an SSS for you :D

Better still come around July and you can even borrow my Big Al 5 SSS (fo' real)

I've told myself that once the Big Al 5 SSS arrives, I am on a bass buying moratorium. I really do need to concentrate on the music rather than the equipment. And plus, I am fortunate enough to have a lot of nice basses so there's no real need.

But, I do enjoy seeing what's rolling out of the factory and I do share in the excitement when a fellow member picks one up!

John, I've gone through long periods in which for one reason or another I couldn't afford to buy or justify buying a new bass, but wateryagunnadoo? I watched the 25ths roll out and make everyone slobber, the Big Al 4s, I'll probably view the Reflex from the sidelines...I mean, I have a stash, built up over the years, so it's not like I'm hurting, believe me, but the thrill of The New Bass - yeah, it's good.

I was fortunate to be able to sell something and make a Big Al 5 happen, and that's probably it for the rest of the year unless something I can't imagine happens. (I don't even PLAY the Lotto.)

So - don't worry about it. The forum wouldn't exist if everyone had a buy a new bass on a regular basis.

I kind of know how you feel. I am down to 2 basses. My 30th and my fretless conversion(cheap non EBMM). I started drifting away from the forum. Especially around NAMM I felt the same way. Then I realized Its about a community here. We can't let the hard times get us down. Keep moving forward just like all the cool new basses coming out.

I think we've all gone through times like that, One must take care of the home front first, then the toys, I've gone as far as a month and not bought one bass, it happens. but then it gets better. so Hang in there it's all good.

I know that feeling and there were times I suffered bad with G.A.S. Had my big collection after joining that d.pit years ago. Think I had 11 basses at the same time. But when I see those Classics white/white/maple I take my 1990 Ray with mute bridge...;)

I know how you feel - especially seeing all the guys with 25ths and those Big Als - and both in some cases!!

Times change though and hopefully you'll be in a position to buy at some stage.

In the meantime enjoy that great EBMM bass you have.

I think that I can speak for a lot of us on this forum. EBMM is truly a brand where quality is even more important than quantity. The high quality does make one want to increase the quantity, however.
