I don't know the serial number but the GC in Oxford Valley, Pa where I ordered it from got a RA number for it today and sent it back. It took more like a week and a half to get in but it was the only bahama blue burst Quilt that was in stock at Music Man along with 3 or 4 koa's. I really wanted a tobacco Burst quilt but didn't want to wait 3-4 months so this was my second choice. I remember seeing the COA and the date was from 2-?-09. I don't remember the actual day on the COA. The store number is 851. I hope that helps. Joe

Looks pretty killer to me... My purple has the big quilt like that and I consider myself to be VERY fortunate to have gotten a hold of that top.

If the only other thing wrong with the guitar is fret buzz due to a filed nut, that's a VERY standard repair... I.e. there will come a day that repair is necessary anyway, and I promise you would not know if it was a new guitar or repaired if you were given two identical guitars one repaired and the other new if both came from EB factory.

Just let them put a new nut on it, set it up, and live with that horrible top... that's what I'd do anyway. I don't know what kind of top you expect, but even from that poorly lit photo it seems pretty obvious that is a killer top.

I mean hey... if you don't like it... you can send it to me. :)

A better picture would have helped.
I wish the world would stop using cameraphones as real cameras.

I'm sure GC has a return policy and if you honestly dislike the guitar you can send it back, even if it was no special order for you.

Then go ahead and try to find a store with your dream guitar in stock and have a testdrive. Take your time. So you can make sure that it's the one for you.

Who said, dreams come true immediatly?

Seriously, Customer Service will do you right! Just look at this pic. I received my BFR and there was a little crack in the body from shipping...I sent it back to MM and this is what I got back! THAT'S AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I do feel sorry for the maufacturers and shops. One man's meat is anothers poison in terms of cosmetics. So many people buy guitars (and tops) "blind" these days. I'd chose that quilt over a flame any day. The buzzin is a different issue I guess.

I wouldn't be disappointed with the looks of that guitar at all. I'm not a fan of Bahama Blue Burst, but dude... THAT TOP SUCKS Love the big, flowy quilt.

Relief?

And I'm going to 5th or 8th or whatever to go with DuBaldo's. When I was there playing around with my Axis before paying and taking it home, Pete had a bunch of guitars that were going out to customers (for some reason, my memory tells me that fingbeagles got like 8 guitars from that batch) and Pete took out every single one. Looked it over. Played it unplugged, went over and plugged into an amp and checked all the different settings. If there was an issue (none that I saw had any), he could make adjustments right there. He did have one guitar that had pickups of a different color from what the customer expected and another box with a loaded pickguard from EBMM to replace it rather than sending the whole guitar back to the factory.

This sounds like common sense....good customer service. But it is less common than you'd think.

From my experience, the smaller dealers usually care more. I've never purchased from Pete, but I'm looking to very soon. Got one in my sights. To be honest, I'm about done with GC anyway. Even my buddies who work there are flaking out lately. I'll still get my strings and picks there...and the occasional FX pedal, but no more guitars.

Would be nice to see a picture of the BFR at the same angle as these other axes. Good lighting and all.

If the nut is your only concern, then don't be concerned. MM will get you taken care of and you won't be able to tell except the guitar will play like it's supposed to. Let's see some new pics when you get it back.

Enough of this thread. I would have sympathy if he actually bought the guitar. It is still in Guitar Center. If you dont like one figured top...search for one that you do. Subjective is the best word to describe figured tops.....

But I said there was Ernie Ball strings on them! Some people are just silly.

Ok...so just photoshop everything but the strings out of those pics. It will save the majority of us here the annoyance of having to look at non EBMM content on a company run forum.
