Heya!
Well, I haven't taken any pictures of it, yet, but I will within this next week or so, but it arrived!
That's right, my Petrucci 6-String, Carbon Blue Pearl Music Man with the Piezo pickup and matching headstock came in at around 3:30p on Tuesday of this week and it is absolutely perfect.
In fact, Tuesday night, my band had a gig and I wanted to try and have the MM in as a backup considering the fact that I've been using a Les Paul for the last two years and I knew that the switch in guitars would take some getting used to, but while having dinner with the boys a few hours before going on stage, we talked about it and we said, "What the heck!" So, (before even really getting to know it, having only had about ten minutes to introduce myself to the guitar before packing it away and taking it to the gig) I strapped it up, plugged it in, messed with the Piezo output and bass a little, and we played our 50 minute set. It played like a champ and I messed up a few times due to a lack of familiarity with the instrument (I wasn't used to having something feel so light and comfortable), but that was okay with me. What's more is that even though I opted for the CBP finish, people I talked to afterwards who were in the audience were taken abak by the fact that the flecks in the finish were catching all the different lighting colors.
Overall, the tone was different than the Les Paul and we hadn't even practiced with the MM in the lineup, but we pulled off a helluva show that night and people were even pumped and cheering after sitting through our long one (about 20 minutes). It was just a different sound coming from the MM, but I think that it ultimately fit better with the rest of the band.
One thing that I was worried about was copying Petrucci's tone, but then again, I use Svetlana's in my amp's Pre- and Power-outs, not only that but my settings are a bit different, though I may yet change out the pups. For now, I'm going to need to take quite a bit of time to decide whether I want them in there or not. Ultimately, they sound excellent, so only time will tell what happens with them.
Out of everything, that night was great, the crowd was into it, we were all into it, and we ended up getting people to buy some copies of our first album, which is always cool (Kinda makes me feel like I did my job). Even after all that, all I can say is: What a way to break it in, eh?
As soon as I get some pics done, they're heading up to the "Pics" post.
For the folks that put in the dedication to making my guitar exactly right, thank you. Thank you very much. I've a sh!t-eating grin on my face ever since I saw my new baby.
