My point was a feeble attempt to point out that the Sterling 5 hasn't really been around long enough to do vintage reissues.

Yes, but they still issued the Classic Sterling 4. It's basically a Sterling with a 2-band.
Since they did a 4, I was wondering if they were going to do a 5. :)

I think you guys are really missing my point. Sterlings haven't been around that long, that's true. But, it didn't stop EBMM from coming out with a Sterling Classic model (it's a 4 string model)

So, since they came out with a Class Stingray 5 (which wasn't around back in the day) and then a Classic Sterling (which also wasn't around), I was thinking out loud and wondering if they'd come out with a 5 string version of the Classic Sterling.

Anyway, I got to try out a 4 string version of the Classic Sterling today. It was a very nice bass, very light too.

Eggz Acklee ..... The Classic Series is not so much a family of re-issues of
bygone basses as it is actually a "features package", inspired from certain
features derived from bygone basses .... but it's a package thaz available
even on basses that didn't exist back in the day when those features were
the normal features of MM basses. IOW "Classically Inspired Retro Design"
rather than "Strict Re-issue".

Acoarst when that features package is deployed onto an SR4, in that case
you coincidentally/intentionally DO get an actually re-issue .... since the
vintage EBMM-era SR4 is the source for the "Classic" features package :)
But for all other versions of the Classic Series, it's an extrapolation.
