I took out a Jazz bass that I usually love tonight and it just sounded blah. I plugged in the Sterling HH that is getting 90+% of the playing time right now and it sounded so great!

I'm bummed about the Jazz but really glad I chose a Sterling for the DD order.

NONE of my other basses sound as good.

That's because it's a lovely gold color Ray. I'm really enjoying the tone of my single H Bongo too.

MM basses are like an addictive drug for your ears.

Brad,

Everyone knows I'm a company man but I have good reason. And it has nothing to do with that weird bald guy that calls me up occasionally.

Wait, it does have SOMETHING to do with him....but just go with it for a minute.

I occasionally think I'm going to get something else, just to keep up my familiarity with other brands and also to get my guitar player to shut up.

"Couldn't you just once in a while play something more...traditional?" And when I do, he says, "Well, it doesn't sound like a Bongo, does it?"

No. None of them sound like my Music Man basses. Maybe they're not for everyone, but they're sure as hell for me.

And I've had some really GREAT basses, even since becoming, um, you know, Lord Bongo.

A Lakland Jerry Scheff (during which time I was dubbed "lipstick boy" by BP).

A Dean Pace. (Okay, not all of them were great.)

A Mike Dirnt P.

A Rumblefish or two. (Anyone want to buy a Fish?)

Right now I have a Lakland hollowbody, which I like quite a bit, very different from what I normally play, but....I won't use it. If I had a hardshell case for it, it would already be on eBay.

So. I understand, my brother. At least we have a support group, eh?

I'm going to go play my red Bongo 5 H RIGHT NOW.

(Okay, I'm cheating, I'm bringing my laptop with me.)

... and this, from a guy who admits he can't hear :p

OK, I confess; I restrung the Jzz5 today to get rid of that dull, tired sound she gets;
gave my fingers a workout; had a few good licks;

Now it's SR5 time for the evening; :)

One more confession; I think you Sterling and BONGO gals are kinda weird;
everybody knows the SR5/Piezo is the only real manly bass goin' :p

I'm a creature of habits. I find a brand I really like and I just buy their stuff over and over. For basses, I discovered MM last year and now I wouldn't consider anything else (I have Ric GAS but I think it's one of those passing fancy things).

The one thing I really liked about Jazz basses was the snarl.

This Bongo 5 single H I have in my lap right now is snarlatious.

Snarleriffic.

Snarlful.

You know what I mean.
