Ok im trying to keep the amount im spending to a minimum, I really don't need the DVD burner and I heard the 2.16 over the 2.0 ghz processor doesn't make a big diffrence. Plus im getting a Imac soon anyways.. This is just to get me by right now and do the basics I will be getting 2Gb ram and an external harddrive. So im trying to just stick to the basics. Anyways if I did need a dvd burner maby for a movie or something, is there anyway I can transfer it via ethernet to my PC [untill I get a mac] and use its dvd burner?

or just store the movie on your external then plug the external into your pc

the cpu diff wont matter much. if the extra hd and burner are worth it go nuts.

well I will be getting an external harddrive anyways so why waste the money ya know? And as for the burner if I already have one in another computer I might as well save my money...

Alright, sounds like you could put the movies on the external HDD and plug that into your computer with the DVD burner. CPU doesn't matter too much in recording, so don't upgrade. Use the money you saved from upgrading to get RAM for it (Apple RAM is overly expensive, get something 3rd party and put it in yourself, it's crazy easy).

Yeah, $200 for all that is really good. Do it.

It is a good deal but I don't want to be in debt for ever and want to pay this thing off asap. I would wait till I get all the money but I want the free Ipod :D so Im just going to put it on the card.. I can probably pay it off in a month or two. And plus only getting what I need will get me closer to getting my Imac that has a dvd player, and since I will have a external harddrive I won't need to pay extra for harddrive in my Imac.

I was going to get ram from another company however I saw that 2 gigs or ram other places is 100$ cheapest while apple charges 130$ normally I would save the 30$ but I im not sure whats a good brand, or if they diffrent at all, I heard there were some bad brands?... If you recomend me some ram for cheap then I will get it 3rd party.

if the diff is $30 then get it from apple. in the past the diff's been as high as $400. maybe theyve lowered their prices since i last bought a mac

Remember that 2 GB RAM from Apple comes in the form of 2x1GB Sticks. Plus, why don't you just get an iMac now and not worry about the MacBook? Or do you need the portability of the MacBook?

Yea that what this thread was about, and after selling my dell laptop I realized how much I really hated sitting down at a desk just to do simple stuff like browse the web or use a word processor. So I decided im going with the laptop, if I find a need for the Imac then I might get it, but untill that time comes its just going to be my laptop and parents dell pc.

I have my MacBook, used it for everything since I got it. Had no reason to get another computer. If I were you, I'd spec out the MacBook and just forget about the iMac.... at least for a good while (maybe 7 or 8 months). That's just what I would do then.

Im just going to do the cheapest macbook + 2gb ram + external harddrive. I currently have NO use for the dvd drive, and probably wouldn't for another 7-8 months and if I did it wouldn't be like I would use it daily it would probably be not often at all.

Cool. I spend like £950 on my new iMac and I didn't get an iPod. US guys are lucky. Though I do get a free copy of Parallels.... which does me a lot of good, as I have no intention of running Windows on my Mac unless I absolutely have to, meaning I have to use a program that there is no Mac version for and I can't use a substitute program that is Mac compatible, for say school or something. And if that happens, I have to go out and buy a full copy of XP.

I was mad when I found out I had to pay tax online.. I never heard of that before,

Anyways its was like 1250$ for the mac with

120Gb Hd
2.16 Ghz
SuperDive
and Ipod...

Don't know what im going to do with all that harddrive room, I really think an external one isn't needed anymore, in which its going to be hard to transfer files... Guess I can use the I pod for that..
