My friend actually came across curry flavoured condoms in a vending machine once while visiting london... so if you can find those it would be a very amusing.

Ha-ha, I'm picturing Azzy and Tiffles sending Trev into the men's toilets in a variety of pubs in search of curry flavoured condoms. I don't think it's going to happen. :)

I met friends in London who were visiting from Canada and they seemed to enjoy wandering around the touristy parts to see Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and there's always the London Eye before they tear it down. Then again my friends were cheesy tourists who were happy to be eating fish and chips and riding in the upper section of a double-decker bus! :) But those open topped bus tours around London can be good (though expensive, and probably chilly at this time of year) to find places of interest you might want to spend more time at, and I think my friends regretted not having enough time to see the Tower. And if you're renting a car, then the suggestions of visiting Bath and Cambridge/Oxford are good ones. Stratford is also a nice place to walk around and soak up some Shakespearean history. And some people just have to see Stonehenge, though I've never been and have heard the fact you can't get anywhere near the actual monument is a bit of a let down. But some people have to do it for the Spinal Tap connection. :D

So many fantastic places to visit in this country, it will be difficult to narrow down your choices. I look forward to your road-report, hopefully you'll find some cool places I've not been to yet.

I believe he does BP:)

Just got back from Kentucky loaded down with some lovely bourbons and ryes.....Rittenhouse 21year old - if you can find it, it is stunning.

Azzy if you wanna come out to the seaside - well the Norfolk coast- give me a shout. Norwich is pretty sweet too.

In London dont forget Churchill's underground war room bunker.

Tiff - enjoy our little island.

She's sleeping on my sofa - whilst I attempt to cook up some lunch :) Poor love is knackered - we were an hour late getting to Gatwick thanks to traffic on the M25 (suprised? moi?) but her flight was an hour late, so in the end she only waited about 10 minutes for me :)

I'll let you tell her about her £4 payphone call to me and the BMW she wrecked in the car park ;)

She'll be up and about in no time :)

And Rob - I think we're quite keen on the idea of popping out to Norwich and Norfolk - we may have to train it to Norwich and see you there?

Welcome to the UK Tiff - hope you have a good time.

In London - I recommend the usual touristy kind of stuff ... Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, St Pauls cathedral.
From St Pauls cathedral take a stroll over the Millenium bridge to the Tate Modern museum - Tate Modern is worth a visit for the huge turbine hall (and if you are into modern art) - but again superb views of London from the cafe at the top.
There are some cool slides in the turbine hall at the moment too

http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/exhibitions/carstenholler/

London Eye isn't cheap but well worth a spin 'cos you get some fantastic views of London, a boat trip on the Thames down the river to Greenwich to see the Cutty Sark (and there are some great pubs, shops and a cool market in Greenwich - and if you are there take a walk through Greenwich Park to the observatory at the top - again, amazing views of London inc. the Millenium Dome).

Covent Garden is pretty good - some nice bars and the market, and usually some excellent street entertainers and performers. Likewise the South Bank at weekends.

Camden is good, again some cool pubs and Camden market, and see how many times you can get accosted by drug dealers crossing the bridge! :) .
Some good guitar shops / bass shops in London - if you around the centre of town try Tottenham Court Road (Macaris, Rose Morris etc.) and Tin Pan Alley (Denmark Street) and Sound Control on Oxford Street (huge basement shop under Virgin records).

You've got to see some bands while you are over here - a band called Sack Trick is playing at the Camden Underworld next Monday 20th November - great bass player called Chris Dale (ex Atom Seed and Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)'s bass player. Very entertaining !

Outside London - so much to see and do depending on how long you've got.
On the way to Cornwall the Eden project is well worth a visit.
South Coast - Brighton is a very cool town, with a beach, some fantastic architecture, and again great for restaurants, shops, bars etc. A really good vibe to the place. Bristol as well.
North Wales - stunning scenery, particularly round Snowdonia.
There is a lot to see and do in Liverpool and Manchester, and only a stones throw from the Lake District which is very peaceful, and breathtaking scenery.
If you are planning to hit Scotland while you are over here, a lot of Scotland is stunning, Edinburgh is a really beautiful city.

Enjoy !

I've come a little late to this party, but if you have the opportunity, Oxford is a really nice place to visit. I spent a few years living there and never grew tired of it. I was sad to leave.

If you only have a few days in the UK, I'd skip Scotland and Wales... you won't be able to do them justice on a day trip. If you've got longer, you'd want to hit Glasgow first, then Edinburgh, spending a day in each. Then I'd head North to Scone (pronounced scoon) Palace near Perth, to Dunkeld, then to Kenmore by Loch Tay. From there, you'd probably want to hit Loch Ness then go over to Skye.

That's at least a week's itinery there, with plenty of touristy things to do... I'm always a bit hesitant about recommending places to go on a short visit to Scotland. I've lived here more than 30 years and only seen a very small part of it.

You'd be welcome to come and share my whisky and cigar collection, but it wouldn't take long ;) You'd definately be better off heading to Norwich for that!

Woo you guys are the best :D

We're thinking about all the stuff we wanna do and you guys have given us some great suggestions :)

Rob, I think your cigars would be safe from us, although the whisky wouldn't be! ;)

We'll be off shortly to get the Tiffster a job, and to show her some of the many and varied sights of Peterborough (yeah right  )

However we're both knackered - after the scarring of watching Borat last night we stayed up late to try and get over it and are now shattered! Hmm yeah that wasn't the most auspicious of starts to Tiffles' trip - but at least it didn't rain yesterday! However woke up this morning and it's chucking it down. Oh well :(

Anyhow - less talking, more exploring! Yay! :D

Do you mean the UK's largest Tesco's (I believe that's what you said)? Make sure Tiffles doesn't forget her camera if you're going to be taking her to view such exciting tourist spots!

:p

BP, I think that if neither of us see naked wrestling again we'll be the happier for it! :D Although the bear was very cute :) We did laugh our asses off, but there are certain things we'd wish to forget! :D
