So what is it like after your "try out?".

Oh and I like it's name too.

Sorry for the lack of response. It was a busy weekend with the kids so didn't get to play let alone post anything here.

I LOVE this guitar!!!!

aesthetics
I get excited just looking at it. I always wanted a black guitar, and especially a black Al with an ebony board. So once that was offered, I was all over it. The Black Sugar colour is an added bonus. I'm not really into the sparkle colours but liked the idea of a little more shimmer than the regular opaque black paint. Picture just don't do this guitar justice with its appearance. I'll try to get more pics under different lighting.

playability
This thing is very sweet!
The piezo is to die for! Every guitar should have one.
The ebony neck is gorgeous and sleek to play. I love the width and radius on it. I've only played an Al once and the neck is a lot better than I remembered.
The silent circuit is new to me. I really like it. It gives a nice articulation in my playing that will allow me to grow in a different direction musically.
The tones that are achieved from the 5 way switch are really nice. Awesome cleans!!!
My only gripe at the moment which have nothing to do with the guitar is that I need a better amp. My current amp is a modelling amp so the distorted tones sound less than desireable. I hope to upgrade to a tube amp soon so I can let her rip in all her glory!

However I am surprised to see the Ball Family Reserve sign on the neck although. I thought the BFR model is only available in pinkburst (with quilted or flamed maple top) and tone block. Does the guitar have these features? And what about that neck - is the roasted neck a regular option? Somehow this guitar seems to be a really special one!

The BFRs are whatever Music Man wants them to be. Full guitars, special material or colours, or new technological offerings. In this case it's roasted maple neck with ebony fret board, and a killer colour Black Sugar.

Not really out of the blue. Tonally it was next on the list. Not to mention the order was placed in August.
I gave up on the post count method. The forum's been quite quiet lately. That system would take forever to produce more guitars for me. ;)

is Mr X still hiding guitars from Mrs Ex? Nice guitar

Yes. Things are quite slow in this country in comparison to the US.
Once there's finally some signatures on the papers, there'll suddenly be 3 beautiful guitars on my wall for all to see. :D
